Tutor
Many parents look towards the summer as time for a child to catch up from the past year – especially if they are enrolled in summer school. If you are well versed in a subject than it may be time to think about peer counseling or tutoring sessions. There are many online or local classified ads in the paper to find individuals who are seeking tutors for children in summer school, or even to get ahead with reading, comprehension or math skills. A tutor is a viable option for those teens that want to make upwards of twenty dollars per hour.
Lifeguard
Could a job be any better than being able to work at the local beach or pool while soaking up the rays? Of course, one would have to be certified as a lifeguard but the pay is quite well and generally the environment is relaxed, and fun. This is great for the teen that loves water, loves the outdoors, people – and has been swimming their entire life. This continues to be one of the most popular summer jobs for teens.

Painting is one of the things that people hate with a passion and are always willing to hire help to do so. Many companies hire on students for the summer since it is a busy season – with the warm weather there are going to be hundreds of decks, houses and exteriors that are going to require that fresh coat of paint. Painting could turn into a part time position into the fall – to make extra money to save for college.

When children are out of school for the summer many parents are at a loss – as summer camps are often not for the entire summer. Many parents have hectic work schedules and are willing to pay top dollar for quality and attentive child care. Often, younger people such as teenagers are thought to have more energy with the children and therefore are at the advantage. Before applying for the position make sure to have a valid first aid course, babysitting certification and knowledge of the care required for the ages that one will be caring for.

Just like childcare, summer camps are booked full for the season. There is such a wide variety of camps offered that teenagers are able to find positions that are suited to their interests. Whether it’s working at a summer camp at a stable or a summer camp at a science center – there are sure to be camps to match your interest. These jobs pay really well, and have the ability to be ongoing summer after summer.
