Pop the Balloon Game for Kids

Darts

Throwing darts is a classic game that dates back into earlier times and is a fun way to spend quality time with your family. Darts are kind of dangerous game though and aren’t really meant for little children to be playing or being around because darts do have a pointy and sharp end if you get the darts with a metal or steel point. If darts are to be thrown and someone is to be in the way, you can easily stick someone.

There are several several games that you can play with darts all because people have gotten tired of the old fashioned way of throwing darts. The boring kind of dart game is throwing a pair of darts at a board and trying to hit the bullseye which is worth the largest amount of points and the surrounding rings are worth the least. The further outside of the bullseye you hit, the less the points you will receive.

One of the games using darts that I will list below is called Pop The Balloon. This is a very simple and fun game to set up and play with your children but you’re going to need darts with the pointy ends so be sure to be careful when playing this game with your children. Be sure to keep them at a safe distance from you in order not to make contact with them when throwing your darts and please be sure to monitor them as they are to throw the darts at the targets.

Objective of the game: Hit as many balloons as you can that are tacked up on the tack board with a set of darts thrown by contestants.

Materials and Instructions for this game:

The materials that you will be needing for this game is a set of darts. I would suggest using at least 3 – 5 darts for this game as to give each player a greater opportunity to hit the targets. It’ll make it more fun with the more darts to throw.

You will need something thick for a background so that the darts are not to puncture the wall behind the backboard. I personally use a tack board for my background for my Throw and Pop game. Darts can easily stick to the backboard if they are to hit the balloons or not. Just put your tack board up on the wall however high you want it to be. I would suggest making it at least 4 -5 feet off the ground using the bottom.

Next you will need some balloons. You can get these from your Wal-Mart or some other retailer large or small. If you want to make the game more challenging for your contestants, use the smaller balloons or get the larger balloons if smaller ones aren’t available and just blow them up just a bit and not all the way.

If you want your game to be easy for your contestants, get the larger balloons and blow them them up. They don’t have to be blown up all the way but large enough so that there aren’t very many gaps in between balloons.

You then for your final step will want to make a line for your contestants to stand behind so that they aren’t too far away from the targets or too close to the targets.

It is then time to play the game. Set your contestants in a straight line so that there is order in which each player will be throwing. Make sure that there is no cutting in line or cheating of any sort.

Get your contestants to throwing and just have fun.

Note: As an addition, place numbers behind the balloons on pieces of paper and have prizes set aside and have the prizes correspond to the numbers behind the balloons. As for example, if a contestant is to hit a red balloon and it has the number 3 behind it, then that contestant gets the prize that is numbered 3.

Add some color to your game by adding balloons of different colors and not of the same.

Also, give out consolation prizes if you wish so that there are no losers in the game and everyone walks home happy. Kids will get a blast out of this game and so will you as you watch and see the excitement on there faces.
