Planning a Karaoke Theme Birthday Party

Karaoke

Everyone loves to karaoke no matter what age they are; so why not celebrate your birthday like the rockstar you so thirst to be by throwing a karaoke bash.

I am going to tell you how to throw the perfect karaoke birthday celebration.

You will of course need a karaoke machine. If you have one already that’s great but if not you can pick up a nice relatively cheap about $50.00-$100.00 at your local Wal-Mart, Best Buy or other electronics store.

Now get some karaoke cd’s. They cost about the same as regular music cd’s and you can get them at any store which you can buy cd’s. You could also burn one from your pc music sharing program.

Pick a room for the party and select a color theme. Depending on whether or not you want to go rockstar or diva or glam silver or gold should always make its way in your color scheme. Use streamers, make posters, stars, hearts, music idol pictures and hang them all over. To make the posters and stars I recommend Tempera Paint and Watercolor paper and an aerosol glitter spray to top them off.

Now you need a stage that really makes the singer shine. Get a king size bed sheet and evenly put it on the floor where the karaoke machine will be. Take another king size bed sheet and hang it on the wall directly behind the one on the floor. Once the sheet is up decorate it to resemble a stage back. To decorate it I recommend some white and purple Christmas lights along the border, splatter the entire sheet with mixed glitter and paste bright, shiny stars all over it. With the Christmas lights there should be enough light so that you can turn off all other lights in the room. Now the performer really gets the limelight.

You will of course need food and drinks for your guests. Keeping with the theme serve cupcakes, cracker sandwiches, smores, candy, sandwich tray and pizza rolls.

Cupcakes

Make a mix of chocolate and vanilla and alternate chocolate and vanilla frosting to reach everyone’s taste. Put on top of them colorful sprinkles and plastic decorations such as musical instruments, cd’s and stars. You can get these plastic decorations at some grocery stores and most party supply stores. Try www.orientaltradingcompany.com it has a ton of party supplies for most themes.

Cracker Sandwiches

Get from your local deli some Turkey, Ham, Salami and Roast Beef and put them on a Ritz Cracker. Now get some Swiss cheese, Cheddar cheese, Mozzarella cheese and Pepper Jack cheese.

Add the cheese to the sandwiches making sure to mix it up.

Smores

Get some Graham Crackers and place a Hershey’s chocolate bar half on it. Roast some marshmallows on your stove, on a kabob fork, place on chocolate and top off with another piece of Graham Cracker.

Candy

I recommend about 6 different kinds of candy placed in bowls throughout the party room.

Drinks

Here is a list of some fun non-alcoholic drink recipes that are sure to please. Serve these drinks in plastic wine, champagne and martini glasses that you can get at any party store.

CranAle

Mix Ginger Ale and Cranberry Juice and garnish with two cherries dropped in drink.

NA Creamcicle

Mix Orange Juice, Cream(Coffee Cream Works, and a splash of artificial vanilla; shake and serve. Garnish with slice of orange on side of glass.

Frozen Fruit Punch

Mix strawberry sherbet, ginger ale, and Frozen Fruit Punch mix in a large punch bowl and fill with canned cherries(drain cherry juice). This can be a self serve drink so stock up some glasses by the bowl.

OCR Lemonade

Mix orange juice, cranberry juice and frozen raspberries in a pitcher and add lemonade. No garnish because it is already filled with raspberries.

I have done this type of party for my twin nieces, they were turning 12, and they loved it. It was a good time for kids and adults alike. We set the room up like a lounge placing small tables with three chairs around them around the room and placing votive candles in colorful holders in the center of each table with a candy bowl. We had an adult mix and serve the drinks. You can also videotape each kid performing on a separate tape and give it to them when they leave as a parting gift along with a small bag of mixed candy.
