Planning a Carnival Themed Party

Goody Bags

Planning a party for a child or the family can be a lot of fun, even more fun if there is a theme involved. There are many themes out there to consider when planning a party, but one theme that I heard of that I liked is a carnival theme. It sounds like a lot of fun, planning a carnival in the backyard, park, or right in the house. There can be games, prizes, food, and music that can help with making your carnival a lot of fun.

I have given some thought on how I would plan a carnival party if I were to throw one. I thought I would share these thoughts as tips on how to plan a carnival themed party, for a birthday party or just something planned for the family.

Decorations.
Decorating for a carnival themed party can be really easy, as you do not need to follow a specific color scheme. You can get balloons, streamers, a centerpiece, and a banner to match the specific color scheme of your choosing. I would personally choose anything colorful, such as red, blue, green, yellow, pink, and so on.

Supplies.
The supplies will also be easy, as you can use any colors that you desire. You can find plates, napkins, forks, spoons, sporks, and such in various colors. If you can find a pack at a decent price, I would also suggest using silly or crazy straws for the drinks. You can also buy raffle tickets or print your own and use them as admission for your guests to get into the party (of course admission is free, the tickets are just for fun).

Games.
Games can include various indoor and outdoor games, such as bowling, ring toss, darts, ball or bean bag, throwing games, a tug of war, guessing games, and tests of strength (age appropriate). You can find small games or supplies at various stores, and you may even find more games that you are interested in using at your carnival.

Prizes.
You can give away small prizes for game winners, or to anyone who tries. Prizes can include stuffed animals, books, balls, card decks, art supplies, or silly prizes like giant sunglasses or a giant hair comb. You can check stores such as The Dollar Tree for small inexpensive prizes.

Goody Bags.
If it is a birthday party, or if you just want to give away goody bags for fun, then there are a few choices of prizes. You can find carnival or circus themed goody bags, or just bags that are colorful. You can include a few pieces of candy, age appropriate jewelry or toys, small games or card decks, bouncy balls, a few raffle tickets so they may have their own carnival, squirt guns, and more. What you decide to include will depending on the ages of the children attending the carnival party.

Food.
I can think of a variety of different kinds of food you can serve at a carnival themed party. Suggestions include pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, soda, juice, water, candy or caramel apples, cotton candy, popcorn, ice cream, candy, and so on. You can get the traditional red and white popcorn bags for the popcorn, cones for the ice cream, and a candy apple kit. Of course, if it is a birthday party, then you can also add birthday cake to the list.

Music.
There is no specific music that you need to play for a carnival party. Just pick a variety so that way everyone can enjoy their favorite music as they play and have fun.

There are the tips for planning and throwing a carnival themed party. You may even come up with your own tips and ideas to add to the list or substitute a tip on this list. A carnival themed party gives you a variety of suggestions for plans and can be a lot of fun for everyone to participate in!
