Planning a Bachelor Party in Baltimore

Bachelor Party

Though I am not married yet, or even engaged, I do have a pretty good idea of what I would like to do in Baltimore for my eventual bachelor party. I am mostly going to focus on Federal Hill- it is my favorite area to drink in due to most of the good bars being in close proximity to each other as well as the area being relatively safe. There are also plenty of taxis around to drive you and your guests home (or to a hotel) after a particularly rough night.

First Course of Action: Dinner

There are plenty of places to eat in Baltimore City, featuring cuisine from all over the world. If you are going for something classy but trendy try somewhere like Pazo, Talara, or Ra Sushi. If you are looking for goofy fun you might want to try Crazy Lil’s five pound macaroni challenge or Pub Dog’s excellent pizzas. Either option is fine, but the latter will set the mood for a wild night better, and put you in Federal Hill where the rest of the drinking for the night will be done, according to my plan.

Second Course of Action: Cheap Drinks

If you chose to try Crazy Lil’s five pound Macaroni Challenge, you are in luck, you will as much food in your belly as possible to soak up the alcohol coming your way. Crazy Lil’s also happens to have extremely cheap car bombs, priced at three dollars, and enough cheap Natty Light to get any party started right. If you started at Pub Dog you are in for a real treat- for $4 dollars you can get a dog deal, which is two mugs of your favorite Pub Dog specially brewed beer. They have just about any style of beer you can imagine, light beers, fruity beers, IPA’s, stouts, whatever you desire, and it is all delicious. Their house liquor is Grand Marnier- make sure you have some of that as well. Magerks is also a good choice for cheap drink specials, but is often super packed, so don’t go unless you are ok with waiting around for drinks.

Third Course of Action: Dancing

Federal Hill doesn’t have any dance clubs, but a lot of the bars are equipped with floors pace for doing so. You can dance at Magerks or Mad River, but my favorite is Stalking Horse. The second floor of that place is just nuts, tons of people- but not too many to the point where it is overwhelming, quick bartenders, nice specials, good music, fun lighting- all of the ingredients necessary for a great place to dance. Dancing is a great way to burn off some of that alcohol you just consumed, so get to it.

The Conclusion: Getting Home Safely

Make sure you drink responsibly. No one should be driving at this point, and someone should arrange for a cab to take you to the nearest hotel, or a good friend’s house nearby. There are a ton of nice hotels in the Inner Harbor area, so feel free to check them out ahead of time to determine which one suits your tastes best. I hope these tips help you plan a successful bachelor party, and that your hangover isn’t too bad when all is said and done.
