Place Setting Wedding Party Favors

If you’re getting married on Valentine’s Day, heart décor is very appropriate, but even if you’re not, a beautiful heart shape is still in order. Whether it’s a giant heart of flowers that the couple stands in front of as they take their vows, or an ice sculpture, the heart makes a lovely wedding décor piece. When you’re thinking of decorations for the reception tables, and the party favors you’ll give out as well, consider the heart.

Paper mache boxes at a craft store are really inexpensive and perfect for creating wedding décor and party favors at the same time. Heart-shaped paper mache boxes work well to contain the gift but also to hold the décor for the table. Each box has a fitted lid and the boxes are available in various sizes. They can be decorated in any manner you want to create the type of décor you desire.

It can be time-consuming to wrap each heart box with paper but the boxes can be painted quickly. Spray paint in colors of gold, silver or white are cheap and easy to apply to the boxes. If you want, glue embellishments onto the box, like a picture on the lid or even buttons or fake jewels around the sides. When the boxes are finished you can then create the party favors as well as the table décor.

Any number of things can be given, inside the boxes, as party favors. Shaped soaps, candy, cookies, bath salts, small candles, trial-size products and similar things can be placed inside the boxes.

You can use other shapes of boxes, like a square, rather than heart boxes. For these, wrap two pieces of ribbon around each one. Set the ribbons on a table so that they have a shape like a plus sign. Set the box on the area where they intersect then bring the ends up to the lid. Tape the ends to the top of the box, in the middle of the lid.

Rather than placing a bow on top of each box, as you often see with small gifts, you’ll turn the favors into décor pieces by setting a small flower arrangement on top. The flowers can be real or artificial; either one will give the table a gorgeous look. Use a paint marker to write a guests’ name on each box then set a box on each dinner plate. First, set the napkin on the plate then place the heart box on top.

Make a large heart-shaped box, to match the party favor boxes, and use it as the table centerpiece. On top of this box set a much larger grouping of the same type of flowers you used for the party favors. With the large centerpiece, and the small flower boxes on each plate, the entire table has a floral theme that’s simply gorgeous!
