Oreo Ice Cream Cake Birthday Cake

Before you go out and buy ice cream and a birthday cake from the store, think about making a fun Oreo Ice Cream Cake instead. Sure, you can buy these already made at Baskin Robbins and Dairy Queen, but often times you can make your own Ice Cream Cake Birthday Cake cheaper and you’re able to more freely customize and decorate it as you like. Children, teens, and adults all love Ice Cream Cakes!

To make this rectangular Ice Cream Cake you will need these ingredients:

2 packages of Oreo cookies, crushed in small, tiny crumbs

1/2 cup of melted butter

1 gallon of ice cream, flavor of your choice! (it’s also always ok to have extra ice cream!)

1 tub of whipped cream or frosting of your choice

To prepare this Ice Cream Cake you will need to:

(1) Place the ice cream in the refrigerator so it will thaw. You want the ice cream soft, not runny.

(2) As the ice cream is softening, let’s make the crust. Pour 1 package of Oreo cookie crumbs into a bowl and mix in 1/4 cup of the melted butter.

(3) Put this mixture into the bottom of your pan, and press it to form a square or rectangular crust (or any shape you wish, depending on how many Oreos and ice cream and space in your freezer you have!) I suggest using a flat pan that has no sides and is freeze-able.

(4) Place this crust in the freezer for 10-15 minutes so that it hardens.

(5) Remove the ice cream from the refrigerator.

(6) Now you’ll have to work fast! Stir the ice cream so that it looks like a spread instead a bunch of lumps. If you can’t stir it in its container, you can pour it into a bowl.

(7) Bring out the cookie crust and smooth ice cream over the crust.

(8) Mix the other package of Oreo cookie crumbs with melted butter and spread them over the ice cream.

*You’ll want the layers of both the Oreos and ice cream to be at least 1/2″ thick each.

(9) Spread more ice cream over the cookie crumbs layer. If the Oreos want to roll around with your spreader tool, drop the ice cream down onto the Oreos and just flatten the ice cream down instead of spreading it.

(10) Cover this Ice Cream Cake with foil and freeze for a few hours or overnight.

(11) Remove from the freezer and cover the cake with whipped cream and decorate. Sprinkles and cookie crumbs always jazz up a birthday cake.

(12) Once you’re done decorating, return the cake to the freezer for another hour or overnight if you wish.

Before serving, you’ll need to place the Ice Cream Cake in the refrigerator to soften for about 10 to 15 minutes.
