OPK is a telemarketing company that offers a variety of telemarketing services to businesses including lead generation, appointment setting, market research, database cleaning, and seminar registration to name a few. Work from home telemarketing jobs, for the most part, pay an hourly wage; many pay a decent hourly wage starting from $8-$18 an hour, with the average at $12.00. So, if you have what it takes to do this type of work from home, I would say go for it. For those of you who may be interested in work from home telemarketing jobs but are not quite familiar with them, let’s discuss what type of work telemarketing involves.

There are a number of different types of telemarketing jobs but let’s look at the most popular ones. The first type is appointment setting. This involves contacting businesses, or in some cases, customers, and giving a brief introduction or “sell” to the prospect. Your job would be to heighten their interest and get them interested enough to set an appointment with a sales rep, view a demo, or receive material. Your main responsibility is to generate appointments for the sales reps or the company. The next one is lead generation. This involves generating good, reliable, and fresh leads for appointment setters or sales reps to contact.

The next is Market Research, which involves calling prospects, businesses or consumers, and collecting data or conducting surveys. The next type of telemarketing is database cleaning, which usually means calling businesses or residents and verifying information. For instance, you would call a business and ask the name, number, fax, and email address of a particular person in that organization like a vice president. Your main responsibility is gathering accurate, up to date information on leads. Although these companies pay an hourly wage, you will need to produce results in order to keep the job. They don’t plan on paying you a decent wage for long, if you are not producing the results they are looking for, so you will need to enjoy doing this type of work and be good at it.

The telemarketing companies that I will discuss in my book are those that hire virtual or at-home telemarketers who will contact businesses, not residents. Due to the “do not call” list, many companies only hire virtual telemarketers to contact businesses. This type of telemarketing is called business to business or B2B. Most of the time you will need some B2B or at least customer service or telemarketing experience. And most of these calls will be cold calling, however, there are many times where you will be calling people who have been called, mailed, or emailed some sort of information about what the company or the company’s clients are trying to sell. This will be more of a “warm” call as opposed to a “cold” call.

Now back to OPK. OPK has a variety of clients and hires at-home telemarketers to call on the different projects they have available. As with most at-home telemarketing companies, you will be an independent contractor. They start you off on a part-time basis and provide training on their system, which is an online contact management system. You will need a reliable computer, high-speed Internet, unlimited long distance, and excellent communication skills. They do have advancement opportunities that will allow you to take on more projects and receive a higher pay. This company seems to be very stable, with lots of growth potential, and values their at-home telemarketers.
