OneRepublic’s Dreaming Out Loud Hits the Mark with Solid Pop-Rock

Coldplay, Eddie Fisher

OneRepublic is one of the biggest bands in the history of MySpace. Based on their MySpace success, they signed a record deal with Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group. OneRepublic is made up of Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, Eddie Fisher, Brent Kutzle and Drew Brown. On their new album, Dreaming Out Loud, almost entirely produced by Ryan Tedder, Greg Wells and Timbaland, will OneRepublic be able to capitalize on the success of their massive first single?

The first single off of OneRepublic’s Dreaming Out Loud is Apologize. The song was originally featured on Timbaland Presents Shock Value. The song is currently one of the biggest songs out. The song is extremely catchy and features incredible instrumentation. The album also features the Timbaland remix which adds a new drum pattern which is very similar to Justin Timberlake’s Cry Me A River. The original is definitely better than the remix.

Mercy is strong pop rock track. The song is very catchy and features very nice vocal harmonies throughout the song. The song also shows off that the band is capable with playing instruments unlike many other bands out there nowadays.

Stop And Stare is a very solid pop rock song. The song is very big in scope and musicality. It definitely channels elements of Coldplay and other bands in that genre. The song is catchy and will definitely be a single in the near future.

Come Home is a very good piano driven ballad. The song features nice chord progressions and a moving vocal performance which adds to the appeal of the song. The song is one of the mellower tracks on the album and is definitely a nice change of pace.

Goodbye Apathy also has elements of Coldplay. The song is very different sounding. The song is solid but not one of the strongest tracks on the album.

All Fall Down is a good acoustic guitar driven track. The song features a catchy melody and builds nicely into a very strong track towards the middle.

Someone To Save You might be the catchiest track on the album. It has that feel of a classic song and is very well written and performed. The song should be a single off the album as it is very strong.

OneRepublic’s Dreaming Out Loud is a good album. It is not going to reinvent the wheel, but it delivers solid pop-rock tracks that will appeal to a broad fan base. Dreaming Out Loud gets 7.5 out 10. If you are a fan of OneRepublic make sure you pick up their debut album Dreaming Out Loud when it is available in stores on November 20th.
