The consistently thumping base, talented DJs and an exclusive yet welcoming atmosphere combine to make this joint a must-see if you’re touring the west side of Manhattan. You might have trouble getting in the door, but rumor has it they like to take back regulars.
The younger crowd, on the other hand, might prefer APT, which is one of the trendier lounges in the Meatpacking District. Subtly tucked behind a set of rather ordinary apartment doors, the interior of this nightclub is reminiscent of a Victorian cottage on the east coast. Amateur Night is one of the most popular events held by APT, and the all-inclusive attitude means your chances of getting in are high.
Or, if you’re looking for a great new place for date night, Level V on Hudson at 14th Street is an excellent choice. Intimate and small, this Meatpacking District nightclub is both sultry and festive, with low lighting and plenty of secluded nooks if you don’t feel like dancing. R&B;, hip-hop and reggae music provide the perfect backdrop for this lounge, and its bottle service is a definite must if you’ve never gotten in before.
Those who like Asian-fusion food and deep-house music might want to try Lotus on W 14th, which isn’t as difficult to get into as one might think. The overpriced cocktails are softened by an energetic dance floor. Finally, fans of the classic New York bar shouldn’t skip an opportunity to explore Brass Monkey on Little West 12th.
If you’re new to the Meatpacking District, you’ll have to explore the nightlife carefully before you find what you really want. New clubs and lounges are springing up on a daily basis, and there’s always something new and trendy to try.
