Flaunting her curves on the Aloha State set, Nicki Minaj was busy putting together material for her “Starship” music video on Wednesday (March 14).
The 29-year-old hitmaker was decked out in a pink bikini, pink heels and a green hairdo as she rolled around in the sand while on location in Oahu, Hawaii.
Having arrived in the scenic island locale the previous day, Miss Minaj tweeted, “The kids @ the airport were like: waikikiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!! I bust out laughin.”
She later added, “Can’t wait 2get on set. Dem male modelz iz poppinton #starshipsvideo.”
“Starship” is one of the songs included in her upcoming sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which is set to be released on April 3rd.
Expecting big things from her latest effort, Nicki recently told MTV, “April 3 is gonna be a doozy. It’s gonna be crazy. It’s gonna be important for just hip-hop culture and pop culture. It’s gonna be very big.”
With her sophomore album ready to drop next month, Nicki Minaj garnered a little added attention by nabbing the cover of the April 2012 issue of Allure.
Set to hit newsstands on March 20th, the “Moment 4 Life” singer added her usual colorful ways to the Michael Thompson shot spread by donning a range of orange and pink wigs while dishing about everything from her passion for hair to a conversation she had with Jay-Z at the Victoria’s Secret show.
Highlights from the interview are as follows:
On her chat with Jay-Z about world domination:
“I never thought about music as just being the end-all, be-all. I always looked at it like a business, something that I could create an empire out of. So that’s why I’m only about to put out my second album and I’m already thinking about this. I had a little conversation with Jay-Z at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. He said, ‘Congratulations on all your success.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m coming for you. I’m coming for your spot, Mr. Mogul.'”
On being fascinated with her hair when she was nine:
“I was doing every- and anything to it-putting in wads of gel and brushing it to the next century, and just thinking I was so cute. I always thought I had an eye for that stuff.”
On her philosophy that hair allowed you to reinvent yourself:
“I had done something I thought was really, really, really cute, and I showed my neighbor. She was like, ‘Why’d you do that to your hair?’ And I never forget what I said: ‘I’m someone new in this hair.'”
On how she was able to land an audience of insanely devoted eight-year-olds:
“I think as far as the younger demo is concerned, I play dress-up. I also can put on a very cartoonish voice. So sometimes children may not know what I’m saying, but they like the sound of it, and they think I sound like some weird character.”
