New Oxford Outdoor Antique Show in in New Oxford, Pennsylvania

Handmade Quilts, Oxford, Vintage Furniture

If you will be in Pennsylvania this summer and you love antiques, then you will definitely want to attend the New Oxford Outdoor Antique Show. Located in New Oxford, Pennsylvania, it is one of the biggest one day antique shows in the Eastern states. It takes place each year on the third Saturday in June, and will be held June 21st this year.

The New Oxford Outdoor Antique Show is one of the oldest antiques shows and takes place in the streets of New Oxford, which is known as the Antique Capital of Pennsylvania. Walking down the brick sidewalks, past the old Victorian and Colonial style homes, and among all the antiques gives you a feeling of living in early American times. Many of the dealers and craftsmen dress in period clothing, adding even more authenticity to the experience. You should be able to find anything you could possibly want in this part of Pennsylvania. There is vintage furniture, pottery, porcelain, glass and jewelry. Early American crafts and antiques, wood carvings and one of a kind items are abundant at the New Oxford Outdoor Antique Show. I really enjoyed the colorful, handmade quilts and brought one home that looks perfect in my bedroom. I found mine next to a stand full of early textiles and household things like glass pitchers and bread bowls. There’s really something for everyone. My kids usually complain when I take them to antique shows but they also had a lot of fun on our trip to Pennsylvania. They even had the opportunity to make their own candles in an area set up for children to make old-time crafts that they could take home. They especially liked the toys and old fashioned candies they found in the Old Country Store we went into. It was so much fun to look around the store and discover brands and foods that I remember seeing in my grandmother’s kitchen when I was a little girl.

The New Oxford Outdoor Antique Show was easy for me to find, and easy to get to from Route 30. The show starts at 8:00 a.m. and will run until 4:00 p.m. There is a lot to see and do in one day, and the day goes by fast by the time you check out the over 130 dealers and vendors that are part of the show. Besides antiques there are also craftsmen, local artists, and entertainment too. And don’t worry about what or where you’ll eat. Food vendors are everywhere, offering different types of food. You can also shop in the regular stores if you want to. Many of them have early American and historical items to buy too.

If you go to www.newoxfordantiques.com you will find tons of information as well as a street map that will help you get to everything you want to see. You’ll get the layout of the show and also information about places to stay in the area. If you want more information, the telephone number for the New Oxford Chamber of Commerce is listed along with several Bed & Breakfasts in the area. They can answer additional questions you may have. I thought this site was very helpful.
