When I go to Florida I choose Muvico Pompano 18 when I want to go to the movies. It’s located at
2315 North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach. They can be reached at 954-946-6008.
There is no question that this theater complex is the prettiest and most unusual I have seen. Like all movie theaters the prices are high coming in at $9.25 for adults. Matinees are $6.50 and seniors (Considered over 55!) pay $6.75 at all times.
As soon as we get our tickets we follow the white-lined path to the front doors. You don’t have to of course; it’s just a cute introduction to this unusual theater. As I walked in I noted a café off to my right and ahead of me a concession stands. There is at least one other concession stand but both times that I went during this trip it was closed.
Not all locations have what Muvico calls an extended menu but this location does with items such as bite- size burgers, fries and popcorn shrimp. I stuck with popcorn and a soda and my mom got a box candy for $3.50. (I knew we should have gone to CVS.)
I was amazed by how pretty Muvico Pompano 18 is. The bright lights sparkle everywhere. Rather than tacky-looking arcade games there are state of the art games and amazingly there is a playroom for children ages three to eight. You don’t want your child going to the PG-13 movie? You can now pay to let him or her have fun while you too have fun. The playrooms are staffed by certified teachers and the rooms have computers, arts and crafts, and table games. Three hours of childcare will cost you about the price of a movie ticket.
You can have your child’s birthday party at this location if you want. The amenities and pricing do vary by location.
Pompano 18 also has assisted listening devices and ATM machines.
On one occasion we waited a moment while the sign above the theater to which we were going said that it was being cleaned. There are red wrought iron benches and two restrooms in the same area so you don’t have to worry about missing 20 minutes of the movie when nature calls or having to stand while you wait for the theater to be cleaned.
We walked into a large auditorium – both theaters both visits were exactly the same – and saw two levels called stadium seating. The chairs were very comfortable though I do have one gripe about them. The seats don’t stay down so in order, for example, for my mom to sit down I had to hold the seat down because she’s a little shaky. When she went to get up I had to hold it or it would bounce up while she was just getting out of it. Muvico fix this!
When we went the first time this trip I was stunned at the Dolby Digital Sound. It’s quite loud but I got used to it since the sound is so terrific.
