Michael Myers: A Fictional Serial Killer

Michael Myers is a character created by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. He was born October 19, 1957 in Haddonfield, Illinois. Myers had an older sister named Judith and a younger sister named Angel. In 1963, a six-year-old Myers murdered his older sister Judith. After this incident, he was sent to Smith’s Grove Warren County Sanitarium. Two years later, his parents were killed in a car accident and his younger sister was adopted by the Strode family. The Strode family then changed her name from Angel to Laurie.

Myers spent 15 years at Smith’s Grove, receiving treatment from Doctor Sam Loomis. Loomis believed that Myers was a patient that had no hope of being cured. He urged the staff at Smith’s Grove to move Myer’s to a more secure area, with no success. In 1978, Myers escaped from Smith’s Grove, but not before releasing all the other patients from their rooms. Myers stole Loomis’ car to drive back to Haddonfield. On his way there, he had stopped and murdered a truck driver for his navy-colored overalls.

Myers immediately recognized his baby sister once he reached Haddonfield. On October 31, 1978 he murdered several of his sister’s friends before coming after her. Laurie was forced to stab Myers with a needle and then with his own knife, trying to protect herself as well as the children she was babysitting. Loomis was searching for the escaped Myers and found him just as he was attempting to murder Laurie. Loomis shot Myers several times, causing him to fall tragically from a two-story window. However, when Loomis looked out the window expecting a dead Myers, he had disappeared.

Michael Myers is a legendary, Halloween idol. Some refer to him as a “supernatural force” and “pure evil”. Myers is a mystical being who is unable to die no matter what happens to him. He seems to be everywhere at once and no matter how fast you run he’s close behind you. Myers never speaks, which only adds to his eerie appearance. His mask is white and expressionless, which makes him seem as if he has no soul or feelings of remorse. Myers is without a doubt, the king of fictional serial killers.
