Men Who Wear Flip Flops Public: Take Notice of Your Disgusting Feet

Flip Flops

Don’t men who wear flip flops in public realize how uncouth this is? Have these men ever looked at their feet and toenails? Okay, nobody’s forcing me to glance at their unkempt feet, but sometimes I end up doing it just to see if there can possibly exist a man who keeps his feet and toenails clean. I fail to see the attraction that flip flops have. One must grip them with their toes to keep them from falling off. You call this comfort?

In the hottest weather, my feet still feel cool and comfortable in a clean pair of socks and sneakers. So why do people wear flip flops? I can’t believe these ridiculous scraps of footwear can actually be comfortable, especially since the wearer can’t run in them and must watch (at least I would) extra carefully where he’s stepping. The argument to keep feet cool doesn’t hold water because I often see men wearing flip-flops while in cool grocery stores.

But back to the disgusting toes and toenails. What’s wrong with men? Most of these men have filthy feet with black dirt under their crusty toenails, and they go out in public like this, including inside air conditioned stores.

And to think that sometimes, these uncouth men have women with them. If I had a husband with disgusting feet, and we were planning on going shopping, I’d forbid him to leave the house in flip flops, at least until he scrubbed his feet and toenails clean. Otherwise, I’d be humiliated to be seen with such a slovenly man.

I assume these are their girlfriends or wives, which means they sleep with them. How can these women get under the sheets with such filthy feet and dirty toenails? Unless the women make these men wear socks to bed?

Men, before you put on the ugly flip flops (or sandals), wash your feet. Trim your toenails. Get rid of the dirt underneath them. Then ask yourself why you even want to wear something on your feet that requires you to grip it with your toes just to keep it on. Once you answer this question, you might realize that flip flops aren’t as comfortable as you’ve been thinking.

Do flip flops or “tongs” actually keep feet cool in hot weather? If anything, feet would feel hot, being exposed to the sun. If they’re in socks and shoes, they’re in complete darkness, and hence, cooler. Plus, men wear these dumb things even in very cool weather. So I can’t assume they’re worn strictly for the sake of keeping feet cool.

It has to be a fashion statement. Flip flops expose feet to the possibility of getting things dropped on them, of stubbing toes, and of the discomfort of stepping on something the wrong way and then twisting an ankle. I’ve watched men walking in flip flops, and I can see the extra effort it requires to keep them on while moving. How can flip flops be comfortable? Will someone tell me?

Just about every woman who wears flip flops has nicely manicured feet and painted toenails; nothing unsightly. But the men? They’re absolute slobs, yet they walk around in flip flops like they think it’s so cool. What boggles me even more is that these men sometimes have a woman with them. I can’t imagine what these men’s feet smell like. When feet look that disgusting, they surely can be smelled inside a car or while sitting in the same room with these men. Oh, that’s another thing: I can imagine that manipulating foot pedals in a car is compromised when wearing flip flops.

I might also add that when men wear sandals, it’s just as yucky, in terms of exposing their ugly feet and gross toenails for the world to see. I’m all in favor of wearing socks with sandals. Socks conceal filthy toes and yellow or brown toenails that have dirt under them. It’s cool to wear socks with sandals for this reason, and very uncool, and uncouth, to go barefoot in sandals. Men, wake up.
