Memorex TouchMP MP3 Player Review

Memorex, Mp3 Players, Mp3 Review

Memorex has not had very good luck with their MP3 players, but Memorex has been making music players since the 8-track player was popular. Memorex may be back in the MP3 Player game with their brand new TouchMP. This little 8GB MP3 player has quite a few features, but the one thing that sets it apart from the other Memorex MP3 Players is the fact that it is touchscreen. Not only is this cool little MP3 Player touchscreen, it is also priced at $99.

Memorex’s TouchMP MP3 Player looks very good with its 2.8-inch touchscreen display. All of the basic navigation buttons are close to the bottom of the screen. The TouchMP measures about half an inch thick, 2.25 inches wide, and 4 inches long. This MP3 player really feels good in your hand. The volume slider is located on the left side of the TouchMP, while the right side has the power switch and a home button. When holding this MP3 Player in your hand it is quite easy to mash the home button while adjusting the volume, which is the only problem found in the actual design.

When it comes to touch-screen MP3 players the design of the interface is very important. The TouchMP’s screen is not nearly as good as the iPhone, but neither are the prices. Memorex did do a very good job at keeping the interface very simple and easy to read. The menus are very intuitive and you will learn them quickly. Back, Enter, and Forward are located at the bottom of the screen which makes using the TouchMP a snap.

The TouchMP features a headphone port, USB port, and a MicroSD card slot. The MicroSD card slot can be used to expand your memory. The TouchMP also sports a very nice radio which will pick up AM and FM stations. The Memorex TouchMP has all of the media formats available to it. You can load music, photos, videos, voice memos, and audiobooks onto the TouchMP. It supports both MP3 and WMA. The video player can use AVI, MPEG4, and WMV videos, which are sized at 320×240 resolution. Transferring media to the TouchMP is very easy, it uses a simple drag and drop interface. Windows Media Player, WinAmp, and many other programs can be used with the TouchMP. The TouchMP does not always like all of the videos you load onto it, so Memorex bundled MediaCoder SE on a CD-ROM, which will convert all of the videos you want to Memorex specifications. The TouchMP will allow you to set any image you want for album art work, which can be very nice. Another cool feature is that the TouchMP separates Audiobooks, Voice Memos and Music, this will keep all of your stuff organized.

Final Verdict

Memorex gives you a battery life of 50 hours of audio and 3 hours of video. For the price of this little MP3 player the image, video, and sound quality are all very good on the TouchMP. When compared to other MP3 players from Memorex, the TouchMP is the best. The features and design are very good for the price. If you want a touchscreen MP3 player for under $100, then the Memorex TouchMP is the audio player for you.
