The trend seems to be that when a family is thinking about purchasing a new family vehicle, they will list the top three or four vehicles on their list, and go rent them, one by one. They will keep each automobile for a few days to see if it is the type of vehicle they want added to their family garage. It is a marvelous concept, and it puts a different twist on the phrase “test drive.” No family wants to be stuck with a vehicle they have purchased and discover that their teen-age son cannot sit comfortably in the rear sear, or that the car is too low to the ground and Grandma can’t get out of it unassisted. Mom and Dad don’t want to show up to see old friends in a minivan that is loaded down with car seats and strollers stowed in the rear. Renting a car for a special occasion isn’t just for the prom, anymore. Mom and Dad can roll back the years and rent a sporty, sleek car for that high school reunion, or a luxury town car for that all important business party at the country club. Picking out a rental car is becoming as important as picking out an outfit.
