Making Good Money Selling Avon Products

Avon Naturals, Avon Products, Direct Selling, Selling Avon

Can you really make money selling Avon? Yes, you can. I have. But the real question should be, can you make GOOD money selling Avon? Well, that’s a whole different story. Here’s the lowdown on what it takes to make the big bucks when selling Avon products.

When you start selling Avon, you aren’t working for Avon. That’s a common misconception. You pay them 10 bucks to become an Independent Contractor. Then you buy their products and sell them to other people. If you don’t get the money from your customers, then too bad. You lose.

You start out making 50% profit for all sales you make. This lasts for the first four “campaigns” , or selling periods, when you get new catalogs. Each campaign lasts for 2 weeks, so you will be getting 50% for the first 8 weeks . After that, you get anywhere from 20 to 50%, depending on the sales you make. You need to sell about $2000 worth of products to become eligible to make the fifty percent, and that is only on some products. There are many products where you will always only make 20 percent profit.

And you must deliver all of your products to your customers as well. That can take a lot of time, let alone the price of gas these days, and wear and tear on your car. The average customer only buys about $25 worth of products during any campaign. That means you will need almost a hundred customers to make the $2000 you need to get the 50% profit. That’s driving to a hundred people’s houses just to make $1000 dollars every two weeks.

And then you will need to pay Avon for all of your sales catalogs and materials, bags and packaging and samples, among other expenses. There is also a lot of time involved behind the scenes, filling out enormous mounds of paperwork, calling customers, calling in orders, and dealing with back orders and any problems your recruits or customers might have. And there will always be some sort of problem, with every campaign. You can count on that.

That seems like quite a bit of effort to make very, very little money. The only way to make good money from Avon is to recruit a bunch of representatives under you, and earn a small percentage from each of their sales. That means a lot of recruiting, and training the recruits. But it is possible. If you train them well to work on their own, and make a lot of sales, you may not need to do much after that. The biggest recruiters make hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. But those are few and far between.

Selling Avon is definitely only for those who like a lot of talking and socializing. You will need to be making social contacts constantly, either in direct selling, or recruiting new representatives. Not everyone is cut out for selling Avon.I certainly wasn’t. I barely made my 10 dollars back. But if you are eager and persistent, and like a lot of talking, socializing, and hard work, than maybe you can make money selling Avon.
