Last night I hit up my local Rite Aide in search for some new foundation. I was running low on my MAC Foundation which I had been using religiously, I wasn’t up for spending $30.00 on foundation so I skipped this time around on MAC.
I came across tons of selections, but my cousin had been recommending L’Oreal foundation for so long now, that I figured I should at least give it a try; besides, her makeup always looks fabulous, and she claimed it had to do with L’Oreal foundation.
So I spotted L’Oreals shelf, and got to looking. A few things stuck out as boring, and others were things I may of already tried; but then I saw the word NEW! poking out on a box of foundation. I picked it up and gave it a read.
L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation with Brush!
Cool, a free foundation brush. I had used one of these before, and didn’t quite ‘get’ it, but I was willing to try and get it this time around. L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation With Brush, promised to visibly decrease the appearance of wrinkles, brighten my face, conceal age spots, and imperfections. The souffle formula would not leak into lines or wrinkles, and on top of all that it also acted as a moisturizer…but is oil free!
It sounded sweet. I don’t suffer from wrinkles, but hey, it contains a moisturizer, so it would also likely prevent future wrinkles. Wrinkle prevention is something I have always sought after.
I went with True Beige which is labeled as color 713. This particular color is meant for those with fair skin, but not Casper pasty white skin. Fair skin with a small dash of a tan. If you have really light skin, go for a lighter color.
L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation With Brush, True Beige 713 came in a box, which is different compared to other glass bottles that simply sit on shelves. L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation is nestled in a white and gold colored box. Inside of the box you are also given a foundation brush to apply the foundation.
I especially loved the way the brush came with its own plastic protective case. This would ensure that no dirt would get into the hairs which could cause break outs.
I opened the case and opened the jar of foundation.
To me L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation looked like it had the same consistency that any ordinary foundation would have. It didn’t have that souffle type texture like the box mentioned.
I dipped the brush into the jar and began applying the foundation to my cheeks.
It didn’t work out quite like I had imagined. It took quite some time for me to blend the foundation into my skin with the brush, and the results were too thick and cakey. Like previous experiences with foundation brushes…it sucked just the same. I eventually ended up using my finger to blend in the foundation. The brush though felt really smooth on my skin, it was just too bad it didn’t work when it came to properly blending.
After blending with my fingers instead I got the desired results I was looking for. I had a semi flawless finish; sadly though blemishes were still easily noticed. Basically L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation With Brush, True Beige 713 gave me light coverage, but far from full flawless cover, which was what I wanted.
I decided to spot touch the blemishes by dabbing my finger into the foundation, and not blending as much. It worked; somewhat.
Last:
I was hoping that L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation With Brush, True Beige 713 would last all day, without my face oiling up. Many foundations last, but they also don’t allow my skin to breath, so I end up with a shiny forehead. I hoped that with the moisturizing properties in the foundation, that my skin would stay a clean fresh matte like finish.
I’m happy to note that L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation With Brush, True Beige 713 lasted all day, and my face barely gave off any hint of shine or oil. Although my skin was not 100% shine free, it was a hell of a lot less shiny than usual.
Overall:
I like L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation With Brush, True Beige 713, and likely would buy it again. I do however wish that the cover was fuller. The foundation seems a bit too natural, so it does not really cover as great as one would expect. I do however love the last, and the fact that it keeps shine away for most of the day.
All in all I would rate L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation With Brush, True Beige 713 4 stars out of 5.
Pricing:
Now this is where I have a bit of an issue, because for $13.00 more I could have just gotten myself a tube of MAC. L’Oreal Age Perfect Foundation With Brush, True Beige 713 came to nearly $17.00 for the jar ad brush. For me that is a bit pricey for L’Oreal foundation. At that price I think that the makeup should have provided full flawless cover.
