Emma Watson is famous for her role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films. Hermione is the part of JK Rowling’s famous trio and one of Harry Potter’s two best friends.

Emma Watson was born in Paris. France in April 15, 1990. She is the daughter of lawyers Chris and Jaqueline who are now divorced. Emma also has a younger brother named Alex and two pet cats. Her full name is Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson. Emma Watson spent the first five years of her life living in Paris and than moved with her mother and brother to Oxfordshire in England.

Emma Watson entered the acting world through school plays. When Emma was the age of nine casting agents were scouring schools around the country in search of the perfect kids to play the parts of Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films. When the casting agents arrived at her school Emma and some friends thought it would be fun to give it a go. Emma’s drama teacher also recommended her to the agents. After a number of auditions Emma finally won the part of Hermione Granger. She was told she had the part by the producer at the same time Rupert Grint was told he had won the role of Ron.

After the success of the first Harry Potter film at the tender age of ten, Emma has gone on the play role of Hermione is all the subsequent Harry Potter films. On set she is nicknamed One Take Watson because of her ability to get her scenes done in one take.

Outside the Harry Potter universe Emma Watson enjoys a number of activities, particularly sports. She plays field hockey, tennis, netball and rounders. Emma also enjoys dancing and art. Emma works hard to keep herself grounded and not let the fame that Harry Potter has brought go to her head. She tries to lead a normal life with her friends. Emma is also a good student and plans to attend university. Last year Emma took her GCSE exams in ten subjects and got straight As.

Emma enjoys listening to a wide variety of music including jazz, R&B;, dance, hip hop and pop. Her favourite movies include Amelie, Shawshank Redemption, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Closer. Her favourite actor is Johnny Depp and her favourite actresses are Natalie Portman and Julie Roberts. Emma Watson also enjoys reading and her top book list not only includes the Harry Potter series but His Dark Materials trilogy and Naughts & Crosses.

Dancing is a particularly favourite hobby of Emma Watson’s. She attends four different types of dance classes even while filming. These are Modern, Breakdance, bodypopping and street dance.

In 2004 Emma Watson was asked to be a judge at the First Light Awards. This was a very big honour as some of the UK’s bigger names in film were asked to judge.

On set Emma’s friendly and kind personality shines through. Because of the long takes during filming for Prisoner of Azkaban, she passed the time by naming herself “Alfonso’s unofficial Hair Stylist” and playing with his hair and putting pigtails in it. Also on set Emma makes sure to visit and play with the various animals used in the Harry Potter films.

Other interesting and little known facts about Emma Watson are as follows. One of Emma Watson’s worries it her accent. Because Emma speaks with a very posh English accent she thinks that many Americans think she is snobby. Her first magazine cover was for Teen Vogue when she was fifteen years old. Emma also once had a terrible hair accident when one of her friends tried to dye her hair pink. However the hair came out a terrible colour forcing Emma to wash her hair three times a day for nearly a month to get it back to normal.
