Learning American Sign Language Online for FREE

Sign Language

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be able to communicate in sign language with other people? Maybe just for fun or maybe with someone whom isn’t able to speak aloud to you? Learning sign language can be very valuable to a person as well as self-fulfilling. It can help that person grow and the possibilities are endless once you know something like sign language.

There are many ways that one can learn how to communicate with signs. You can practice with someone who already knows it, you can order videos, get flash cards, or you can try to teach yourself with free resources that can be found online. I’ve found it to be easier to learn a couple of signs a week at the beginning and then learning more and more depending on the type of conversations you’d like to have. Pretty soon you’ll learn so many signs that you’ll just go back to the resource page for single signs you need.

When I first began my journey to begin learning American Sign Language I went through a million and one sites that promised you’d learn no matter what if you purchased their products, paid for their e-book or joined their website forums, but at last I found one website that works. It’s called the AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE BROWSER.

This website contains just about every sign out there with the word to which it pertains. It’s very well organized into separate web pages according to each letter of the alphabet. All you have to do once you’ve arrived at this website is click on the letter that you wish to open up to view words that begin with it, and then you can open up words that will include the sign that pertains to it.

This site is very easy and quick to surf. Pick 5-10 words that you’d like to learn in signs and then go research them. You can copy paste them to a word document and go back to it during the week for review.

Learning American Sign Language is something important that will help you become more of an asset to any company since you will no longer only be able to speak using your voice, but you will also be able to speak using your hands.

HINT FOR PARENTS:
Many young kids these days are looking for summer projects, they’re looking to learn new things all the time since their brains can pretty much catch on to anything they are taught. Use this website to teach them sign language at the same time that you learn it. It can be a wonderful and exciting learning experience for them. They will be able to show off to their friends and family, be able to participate in sign language conversations with the kids in school who are only able to communicate that way and it will open up many doors they never knew could be open to them.
