La Perla Luxury Lingerie Review: High-End Unmentionables

Don’t expect to walk into a La Perla Studio or a department store such as Neiman Marcus, or other high-end store that carries this high end line of lingerie, and think that you are going to dare to drop a small amount of change and walk out with a bag of goodies. It’s not going to happen. We are talking about the Italian line of La Perla Luxury Lingerie. The experience is going to be a little bit different. We are talking high end unmentionables here.

La Perla Luxury Lingerie is beautiful lingerie, but this beauty comes at a price. The high-end unmentionables can cost a pretty penny from a simple thong to a beautiful negligee. A black knit “Swish” pajama set runs $266.00 at Neiman Marcus. That’s a splurge since PJ’s are optional. For most of us foundation garments are a necessity. And usually you pay for what you get. Well with La Perla Lingerie, allow me to tell you what you get – and for how much.

Looking at the foundation garments of the La Perla Luxury Lingerie and selecting one of the prettier ones, a two-tone style (Elizabeth to be exact), the Elizabeth two-tone push-up bra runs $173.00 while the matching thong costs $65.00. Both come in black or taupe with ivory lace. The basic sheer cup under wire bra (style Sexy Town) that is 5% spandex, and 95% nylon costs $76.00. The matching brief will cost you $46.00. Again, take in mind the lingerie is advertised as Luxury Lingerie. Is it worth it you ask? Coming from a girly-girl (which I am), I have to tell you that I think it is. The quality, the style, and the fit all make it worth the price. Are prices a bit high? Well they are not cheap, but again it is all about priorities. Remember the operative word with this lingerie is “luxury.”

This year with the Fall 2006 Collection is the release of the La Perla Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Push Up Bra for a mere $309.00. You can get the matching thong for $154.00. This is truly what I consider high-end unmentionables.

Reviewing the sleepwear one can purchase a La Perla Lounge Chemise for $395.00 (style Carol) or a Lounge Nightgown (style Catherine) for $439.00. If you have someone in your life that you really want to make happy buy her the La Perla Cocktail Beatrix Long Gown for $495.00. Right.

I’m sure by now you are asking why? Why is the lingerie so expensive? La Perla Luxury Lingerie was founded in 1954 in Bologna. The materials and craftsmanship are elegant and unique with the goal of making the product extremely feminine. Women love beautiful lingerie.

I’m sorry gentlemen, we would not want to leave you out. La Perla Grigioperla has a men’s’ line as well. Silk boxers costs $63.00 and a ribbed t-shirt costs $51.00. If you are a “briefs” guy (as opposed to boxers), you can pick up a pair of ribbed briefs for $29.00. For those who prefer The Skin Fitted Cycle Short, you can pick these up for $41.00.

La Perla Luxury Lingerie has been described as an “Italian Fashion Icon.” The company was actually founded in the 1950’s by Ada Masotti who was commissioned to make corsets for the wealthy women of the circa. Her specialty at that time was intricate embroidery and handmade lace, which to this day is representative of the quality of the “Italian Luxury Lingerie.” The lingerie is romantic, and glamorous, and lives up to its’ reputation.
