Kurama Japanese Seafood and Steakhouse on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Hilton Head, Hilton Head Island, Japanese Steakhouse

During our yearly trips to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, there is usually one restaurant that we will visit at least once every year. This restaurant is Kurama Seafood and Steakhouse. I would like to give you all a review of this great restaurant. I will give the pros and cons of Kurama Seafood and Steakhouse in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

The Pros of Kurama Japanese Seafood and Steakhouse

Kurama is a Japanese steakhouse that not only offers food, but Kurama offers entertainment as well. Kurama is a restaurant where the chefs cook in front of you on a grill. The chefs are highly skilled and entertaining. They will do many great tricks and gags that are extremely funny and impressive as well. I will not give any specifics. I would not want to spoil any of it for you, but I want to let you know that it is very entertaining.

The food is excellent as well. There is an extensive menu at Kurama that offers sushi, seafood, steak, chicken and more. We always try to catch the early bird specials at Kurama. Dining on Hilton Head Island can be very expensive, so look to see if the restaurant you are thinking of visiting has early bird specials. At Kurama, you can get either chicken, steak and chicken, shrimp and steak, or shrimp and chicken for around $15 dollars. Soft drinks will cost you $2 each as well. So a couple can enjoy a great meal, drink, and tip for around $45 dollars which isn’t too bad for a great meal on Hilton Head Island.

I had the chicken and steak and it was wonderful. You will get a lot of food. You are usually served a soup and salad at first. Then you are served a shrimp appetizer that is cooked in front of you with grilled onions and zucchini. Then the chef will cook the main course in front of you.

Kurama can also accommodate large groups of guest. We usually travel with about 15 people and sometimes getting seating in a restaurant can be a difficult thing to do. Kurama’s tables are set up to accommodate large parties.

The Cons of Kurama Japanese Seafood and Steakhouse

One of the cons of Kurama in Hilton Head Island can be the price. Regular menu items can be rather expensive. That is why I would highly recommend doing the early bird special. The early bird special is usually offered before 5:45 pm.

The service can be slow as well at time. While the chefs cooking in front of you do a wonderful job, the support staff and be slow to refill drinks and remove plates. The service is very friendly though, and seem to try their best. I think that they may be a little understaffed.

Other than that, there are not any real big cons to Kurama.

Overall Thoughts

If you are looking for a great restaurant to have dinner at in Hilton Head Island, I would definitely recommend Kurama Japanese Seafood and Steakhouse. Hilton Head is full of wonderful restaurants and Kurama is definitely one of the best.
