Kentucky State Fair Ticket Information

If you and your family are planning on attending the Kentucky State Fair this year, tickets for admission are now available at a discounted price. The Fair, which runs from Thursday, August 20 through Sunday, August 30, 2009 is only weeks away. So, take advantage of saving money by purchasing your tickets now. Here’s the information you’ll need:

How and Where to Purchase Discounted Tickets

Go to www.kystatefair.org and click the tab for General Information. You can purchase discounted tickets through the Kentucky State Fair’s General Store and save 25% off the regular admission price, or you can get your tickets at most Kroger stores in Louisville and Southern Indiana with your Kroger Plus Card. Please note that Kroger sells tickets through midnight August 19, 2009. After that time you must purchase your tickets at the Fair.

The discounted rate for Admission for adults is $6; children 3-12 years are $2 (under three is free); and seniors (55+) are $2. Please note that the admission rate does NOT include the cost of parking which is $6 per vehicle.

If you purchase your tickets at the Kentucky State Fair, prices are: adults – $8; children 3-12 – $4 (under three is free); and seniors (55+) are $4. Again this does not include the cost of parking.

Also, please note that you cannot use Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom passes during the Fair and Hurricane Bay is closed during the Fair.

Thrillway Ticket Discounts

If your child or children’s main focus is on the Thrillway loaded with rides (operated by North American Entertainment Company), you can take advantage of discounts there as well. You can purchase a set of 22 ride tickets for $17.00 through the website’s General Store.

Additionally, discounted wristbands are available for $24 on August 20, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 30; while $12 child wristbands are available for $12 on Friday August 21st and 28th. (A Child is defined by being 48″ or less.)

The website also has a disclaimer that all prices are subject to change.

Hours

Each day the gates open at 7:00 am

Exhibits in the buildings are from 9:00 am – 10:00 pm.

Thrillway hours are 2:00 pm until closing on August 20 and 21; noon until closing on Saturday, August 22 and Sunday the 23rd; 2:00 pm – closing on Monday, the 24th through Friday, the 28th; and Saturday, the 29th and Sunday the 30th from noon until closing. Closing is around midnight for the Thrillway and other tents (that’s when most vendors start to close as there is no official closing time.)

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom will close at 10:00 pm Monday – Thursday and Sunday, and at midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Concert Ticket Information

Concerts for the Main Stage Concerts at the Kentucky State Fair include Kelly Clarkson (with Gavin DeGraw) on August 20, Journey and Heart on the 21st, Keith Urban with Pat Green on the 22nd, and Taylor Swift with Kelli Pickler and Gloriana on August 30th (unfortunately tickets for Taylor Swift are already SOLD OUT)!

To purchase tickets for the other concerts, however, you can go to www.ticketmaster.com or by phone (a list of numbers is located on the Entertainment, Concerts Tab on the website.

If you purchase your tickets with 10 days or less until the concert date you will have to pay separate Admission. Also, if you wait with 10 days or fewer tickets cannot be mailed to you. They should be picked up at the will call area at the Kentucky Exposition Center ticket office.

The following prices are listed for the Main Stage concerts:

• Kelly Clarkson with Gavin DeGraw: $47 and $52 for reserved seating

• Journey and Heart: $50 and $55 for reserved seating

• Keith Urban with Pat Green: $52 and $67 for reserved seating
