Keeping Kids Busy at Your Super Bowl Party

Keeping Kids Busy

Super Bowl parties are usually a mix of kids and adults. The casual atmosphere is perfect for families. Still, with all the excitement going on, kids can get a little crazy. How do you keep them busy and out from under your feet? Grandma Jaipi says, put them to work, but make it fun. While you’re at it, plan some football-themed activities that are just plain fun with no work involved.

Before the party:

Games on.

Have kids help you make up some football themed games to play. Kids can even make up their own penny football pool. Get them playing some actual touch football before the game, weather permitting. Then, when it’s time to wind down and watch, kids will be ready. You can also find plenty of ideas for Super Bowl party games online.

Kids can help you decorate.

You’re too busy for all the bells and whistles. It’s a good thing kids love to decorate for parties. You’ll have to provide the financial backing, of course. Still, it will keep the kids busy for an hour or so. Plus, it’ll spark their creative juices. Just purchase the décor, hand them the bag of goodies and let them have at it. It doesn’t have to look perfect. After all, the focus is on the game anyway.

During the party:

Let kids play host.

Kids are perfectly capable of taking over a few host/hostess duties. Some kids get a real kick out of playing butler on game day. Plus, it’s good practice for hosting their own parties, when they get older. They can stay busy:

Invite their friends.

Kids will be a lot more enthused about your Super Bowl party if their friends are invited. Think of it as no fuss entertainment. Once kids get to a certain age, hanging out with Mom and Dad’s boring friends might not be as fun as it once was. Give them some space and someone their age to talk to. They’ll be a lot happier. Game day will be more stress free for you too.

Give kids their own viewing area.

Why not let kids have their own party, separate from the adults? They can easily deck out their own room for the occasion. A few throw pillows and a coffee table full of party food and they’re set. It’ll keep the volume down for the main event. Plus, if they get bored with the game, they can do something else. Kids who want to see the game can always watch with the adults if they wish.
