I will be the first person to admit that I know hardly anything about most celebrities. They just aren’t that interesting to me. However I saw something on television a couple days ago that made me chuckle. I can’t remember exactly where it was I saw it but there was a discussion on the program I was watching about how the main character couldn’t distinguish the difference between Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet.
Yesterday as the wife and I went to the grocery store I saw a magazine with one of the actresses on the cover. It was at this point that I came to a realization of my own. I don’t know which one is which, either. Therefore I decided to do some research to finally clear up this confusion once and for all. Thanks to Wikipedia I now feel like I have a grasp on which (K)Cate is which.
Kate Winslett has two sisters. Both of them are actresses.
Cate Blanchett married a playwright and a screenwriter. The young couple has two children and they live in Australia.
Kate Winslett married a director in 1998. They had a daughter in October of 2000. In 2001 the couple divorced. Winslett married a different director in May of 2003 and they have a three-year old son.
Cate Blanchett played Elizabeth I in the movie Elizabeth. She is actually playing the same role in a sequel that is coming out sometime this year.
Kate Winslett played Pricesss Sarah in A Kid in King Arthur’s Court.
Kate Winslett is somewhat of a successful singer. She had a number one song in Ireland off the soundtrack for Christmas Carol: The Movie.
Cate Blanchett is not known for singing now and most likely never will be. We the people thank her now for not attempting to sing.
Cate Blanchett has been in some awful movies. These include Bangers, The Man Who Cried, three separate editions of The Lord of the Rings, and The Good German. Kate Winslett has also been in some terrible films. Some of these films are Hideous Kinky, The Life of David Gale, The Holiday, and some movie about a ship.
Cate Blanchett has won many awards, the most impressive being an Academy Award in 2005 for her role in The Aviator.
Kate Winslett has been nominated five times for an Academy Award. She has yet to win one. Winslett can, however, pick out an Academy Award in a lineup.
Maybe it is the fact that I don’t read up on celebrity gossip enough but it seems that Kate Winslett in the public eye far more than Cate Blanchett. This is ironic because if one were to compare the careers of both actresses it is obvious to me that Blanchett has been more successful. She has won more awards in general, including the prestigious Academy Award. It seems that the public is more interested, however, with how much Kate Winslett is weighing these days instead of the upcoming projects she is working on. Whatever the future holds I am confident that both Kate and Cate will be around for quite awhile. Hopefully, after this, I can remember which one is which.
