JK’s NFL Playoff Picks Week 1 for the 2012 Season

Well it’s time for the 2012-2013 NFL playoffs and the first thing as always is wildcard weekend. Here are my picks for the first week of the playoffs.

Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans

I know Houston has not been playing well lately, but it’s hard to look past what they have done this season. Houston is at home and should be able to run the ball. Look for a low scoring game and I like Houston 21-17.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

Divisional rivals and a rematch of last week’s thrilling game. However, this one is in Green Bay and I expect Green Bay’s Defense to force a few turnovers. Adrian Peterson will get his as he has done all year but it won’t be enough. I like Green Bay’s offense a lot in this one, Packers win 34-14.

Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens

The Colts have been playing above their heads this whole season and I don’t expect it to stop here. The Ravens defense is not what it used to be and they are giving up a lot of yards rushing. Now I know the Colts aren’t the best running team, but I think they have a good running game in this one leading to a balanced attack, Colts win 24-10.

Seattle Seahawks at Washington Redskins

I think this could almost be the NFC Championship game. Outside of Denver these may be the 2 hottest teams in the league, both defenses are playing great and both offenses seem to be very consistent. Now I know everyone is high on RG III, but I am higher on Russell Wilson. I think this will be an absolute battle and the winner of this game could represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. I like the Seahawks in a close and exciting game 24-20.
