Jessica Simpson’s Hair Stylist Ken Pav’s Fails to Deliver with Sulfate Free Shampoo

Sulfate Free Shampoo

Ken Pavés is well known as Jessica Simpson’s hair stylist and as one of her best friends. He usually makes her hair look great, but too bad his shampoo didn’t do the same for my tresses.

I tried this shampoo after reading in a magazine that Jessica used it herself, and after seeing that it was so affordable. This shampoo’s official title is a mouthful, it’s called Flawless No Sulfates Allowed Repairing Shine Shampoo, For Dry Damaged Hair, yet I found it flawed. The label talked a good game, informing me that sulfates are the same lathering ingredients found in dish detergent, and that it would leave hair soft and supple. It boasts ingredients like corn and coconut derivatives to cleanse, proteins to make hair strong, burdock and ginseng root extracts for hair growth, comfrey extract to sooth and hydrate dry scalps, and replenishing lipids and avocado oils in order to protect hair from harsh water.

The Ken Pavés Flawless shampoo has a very thin watery consistency, and it doesn’t lather that well because it’s sulfate free. I could deal with that because more suds don’t necessarily means your hair is getting clean, but I disliked the results. Even with all of these great ingredients the shampoo just didn’t work for me. Even though my hair is dry and damaged (I use a relaxer which automatically damages the cuticle of hair) this shampoo did nothing to help, it only made my hair feel even drier. It has a very thin consistency and doesn’t lather that well because it is missing found it was even harsher than the regular shampoos that I’ve used that contain sulfates.

I don’t know if it was the protein complex that was used, but the shampoo also made my hair feel much harder than normal and took a lot of conditioning to feel softer. I thought that I’d give it another try after having bad results with it the first time, and when I used the shampoo again I only got the same negative results, so I quit using it. The only three things that I can say about this cleanser is that it did remove a really oily dandruff treatment out of my hair when my other shampoo couldn’t, it has a clean citrusy scent, and there’s a lot of shampoo in the bottle.

I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone with dry or unhealthy hair. Perhaps it could work for someone with naturally straight hair like Jessica Simpson, or for someone who has hair that doesn’t need a lot of moisture. I could also recommend it to someone who has a lot of product build-up and needs a clarifying shampoo, just be prepared to leave the conditioner on for a while.
