Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer Review

Jergens, Light Skin, Skin Tones

After hearing many great reviews of Jergens Natural Glow lotion, I decided I just had to try it myself. My bright white skin could use a little tanning and since I’m one of those lucky people who rotates from bright white to bright red and then back to white in the summer, I was hoping this lotion would give me a little color other than the old familiars of “ghost white” and “lobster red”

I set out to the store to purchase this lotion and right off the bat, it was easy to find. Not only was it on the shelf with the other lotions, it was also in with the summer seasonal stuff AND had an end cap dedicated in it’s honor also. It’s obvious that Jergens has really been doing the marketing push for this stuff and I was really hoping that it was because it actually worked. They offer it in five different kinds – for light skin tones, medium skin tones, tan skin tones, for faces, and a skin firming version. I chose the one designed for light skin tones and was on my way. Ringing up at less than $7, I didn’t feel too bad about my indulgence.

When I got home, I read the back of the container and slathered the lotion on. I did appreciate the fact that I didn’t feel like I needed to be super duper careful or otherwise my tan would be uneven – it was literally as easy as rubbing on normal lotion. Many other people, such as my friends and this fellow Associated Content-er, commented about the smell – some saying it was unpleasant and others saying that it had a definite tanning lotion smell. While I noticed a smell, I didn’t find the smell to be unpleasant or to lingering, so I had no complaints about the smell.

When I initially read the instructions, I kind of had to laugh because they tell you to wash your hands after application. I was confused at why I would feel the need to wash something off my hands that I was supposed to be comfortable rubbing all over my entire body. I found that out a few days later when I realized that large areas of my hands (such as my palms and area right below my fingers) had turned bright orange from the lotion and washing at that point was NOT getting the color off. As Emma found in her review. dry areas of skin were also “highlighted” by this lotion. Areas such as my elbows and dry spots on my legs soon had orange spots that were unappealing. I do have very dry skin in some places, so perhaps moisturizing with a different moisturizer a few hours before using the Daily Glow lotion would have helped this problem, but I did find it annoying.

Other than the orange spots, I was happy with the results of this lotion. After only 2-3 days of using it, I was noticeably darker, but not so much darker that it looked fake. Using it over the weekend, when I returned to work on Monday, it just looked like I had gotten some sun over the weekend. It was nice to not feel so bright white but not be tan enough to have people ask me if I fake-and-baked or anything. It seems like other people felt the difference was not enough to make this product worth their time, but it was exactly what I was looking for. I didn’t want to be Florida tan while living in a Wisconsin spring, and I expected a light “summer glow,” not a miracle tan. I also liked the fact that if I missed a few days or even a week of applying this “daily” moisturizer, it wasn’t like I had a total set back and it was easy to get back to where I left off.

So my conclusion? If you’re very smell sensitive, you might want to skip this product this summer, but I personally didn’t find the scent unpleasant at all. If your skin is not incredibly dry and you’re looking for a slight change in color instead of a miracle overnight dark tan, I definitely give this product two thumbs up. If you’re looking for instant results, you might want to look elsewhere. But for it’s ease of use and delivery of the “healthy summer glow” it advertises makes this a product that I was pleasantly surprised by!
