Beale Street, Irish Bars, Irish Cuisine, Memphis

Memphis Irish Pubs and Bars. St. Patrick’s day is almost here, and everyone will be looking for a good pub or bar to celebrate the holiday. Although Memphis is better known for Elvis, Martin Luther King, good music, and college basketball, approximately 5% of the population is of Irish ancestry. Just like many other major metropolitan areas, there are a number of good Irish bars to pick from in the Memphis area to include: Celtic Crossing, Dan McGuinness, Silky O’Sullivan’s, Murphy’s, and T.J. Mulligan’s.

#1 Memphis Irish Pub and Bar – Silky O’Sullivan’s

Silky O’Sullivan’s is the Irish Bar on Beale Street to visit! Although you’re going ot pay a few more pennies for a green beer on St. Patty’s day here due to the location, it is a great place to take friends from out of town! A good sampling of Irish food can be found at Silky’s, and it is worth a trip year round to the pub since they try to make ‘everday St. Patrick’s Day’ !

#3 Memphis Irish Pub and Bar – Dan McGuinness

There used to be two locations for Dan McGuinness in Memphis, but the Peabody Place location was shut down in conjunction with a major remodeling effort. As a result the only location still open is the East MEmphis location. Regardless, Dan McGuinness is a great Irish pub to visit for St. Patrick’s day! Their food can’t be beat with authentic Irish cuisine such as Shephard’s Pie, Bangers and Mash, and Irish Stew on the menu. Additionally, they always have live music, trivia contests on Wednesdays, karaoke, and other special events!

A very similar atmosphere, but perhaps with a little more character, the pub will get packed by 6 pm on St. Patty’s day! Don’t forget to get there early to get some of the great food, and hang out with the bar staff and locals before the pub gets packed! When going to T.J. Mulligan’s, ensure you observe the parking restrictions in the district, or your car WILL get the Boot! If you’re not downtown, there are a few other local area T.J. Mulligan’s to check out as well!
