Fish Dishes

Irish Channel
1053 Route 3 North

Irish Channel, right off of route 3, is the “it” place to eat in Crofton. It’s an Irish pub with great food and good service. There is not a lot of Irish food, but they do have corned beef hash, shepherd’s pie and the like. There are also burgers, pastas, wraps, salads, etc. The food has always been good and fresh. There are live singers Tuesday through Saturday, including Irish singers and a guy who “isn’t Irish, but sings songs by Irish bands.” And there are great happy hour drink specials. Definitely worth a visit!

The Big Fish Grille
1260 South Crain Highway

This semi-upscale seafood restaurant is one of the best you’ll find in the area. They have a good selection of fish dishes and great soups and other appetizers. I also highly recommend their sushi. The decor is great: bright, inviting and modern. The building has received a complete face-lift since the Dough Roller closed down. Come early for happy hour, and if you want to get a table. This place is so popular, Blockbuster has to guard their parking lot next door. The prices are around $15 a plate and they open at 4 on weekdays

Sly Horse Tavern
1678 Village Green

Sly Horse is a good intimate restaurant for date nights, such as Valentine’s Day. The restaurant is modeled after an old-style pub and has high-backed booths so you dine in relative privacy – except there is often a group of rowdy locals in the bar area. However, it is very quiet if you sit upstairs. The food is absolutely wonderful, typical fare of a 4 or 5 star restaurant, and the menu changes often, so you can always try something new. Don’t like what you see listed? The chef is more than happy to make you something. Your meals come with an appetizer and salad, and they have a great selection of wines. It’s expensive, but worth it. Lunch prices are a little cheaper.

Fins
1629 Crofton Center

Fins serves cuisine known as Hawaiian Fusion. There is an excellent selection of seafood dishes and sushi, as well as unique items such as a tropical fruit salad. Everything is always fresh and tasty. The Hawaiian decor of the restaurant is awesome. You just have to see it. The prices are relatively high compared to other restaurants in the area, but it is definitely worth a try. They’ve recently added theme nights, such as “Mexican night” where they add specials to the menu and spice things up. They also have a well-stocked and popular bar.

Kwong’s Hunan Chinese Restaurant
1659 Crofton Center

Kwong’s is one of if not the best Chinese restaurants in the area. Whenever we go in, the place is nearly empty, but don’t let that stop you from trying them out. The service is excellent and there is a huge selection of food. There is even a menu of seitan dishes for vegetarians. Once you try this restaurant, you will keep coming back. You may even come from out of town!
