Ideas for a Baby Shower at Work

Baby Shower Decorations, Crock Pots, Hosting a Baby Shower

It’s nice to show a co-worker you care by hosting a baby shower at work, and many employers allow parties such as these during breaks or lunchtime hours. Hosting a baby shower at work isn’t always as easy since time and space is usually limited, but it is possible to host a very nice baby shower to honor the new mom and dad to be. Consider the following ideas if you want to host a baby shower at work. You don’t have to rent a hall or go to extreme measures to provide a very nice shower that will make lasting memories.

Who Should Be Invited?

It might be tempting to invite close family members of the mom or dad to be, but in most cases a family member or friend will host the main baby shower. A baby shower at work should be for employees and just the parents to be. Close friends and family members will more than likely host a party that include others, and work really isn’t the place to invite those who aren’t employees.

Food Ideas

In most cases, those attending a baby shower at work won’t be able to all get together at once. My husband’s co-workers hosted a baby shower, and during the party people would come and go since they still had a store to run. For this reason it’s important to provide food that can be kept hot and ready to serve.

Ask co-workers to bring hot foods in crock pots, and cold foods that won’t spoil. A veggie tray, barbeque sandwiches, sausage and sauerkraut, cookies, cake, and a fruit tray are all great ideas for a baby shower at work. Have participating employees each bring a dish and the necessary disposable tableware. Create a signup sheet, plan in advance, and the party will be a great success.

Decoration Ideas

Baby shower decorations that are useful are the best decorations for a shower at work. Instead of taking up valuable space with pots of flowers or other arrangements, decorate the tables with toys. Consider buying rubber ducks and other cute toys for the baby. After all, the shower is for the mom and dad to be, and this is an easy and practical way to decorate while providing them with useful gifts for their new little bundle of joy.

Game Ideas

Games at work really aren’t necessary or practical since time will probably be restricted, but it’s fun for coworkers to place bets on how much the baby will weigh, his or her length, and what day and time he or she will come into the world. Coworkers can place their bets while donating a predetermined amount of money. Whoever comes closest to correctly answering the questions wins half of the pot, and the rest goes to the new mom and dad to be.
