The ICDC Homeland Security program description is as follows:
This “Associate of Occupational Studies – Homeland Security” program is a 60.50 Semester Credit Hour/Units (1,820 clock hours) program, requiring 91 weeks of combined general education courses along with occupational theory and applied skills training. Homeland Security has evolved from a basic concern regarding terrorism, but to now include a widening range of investigation and security issues which are not just domestic, they are global. The program focuses on developing a student’s academic and occupational competencies as a broad-based foundation through various disciplines of education, training, and security application, all pertinent to possessing the knowledge and understanding for successful employment and advancement in the field of Homeland Security.
Students complete a variety of topics in Homeland Security, including but not limited to:
• Criminal & Civil Law
• Disaster Management
• Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction
• Global Terrorism
• Explosive Incident Assessment
• Computers
Courses are prepared by professionals in the Homeland Security industry, including law enforcement, legal, fire service, and educators. Students in the on-line program learn from professional on-line instructors with backgrounds in their given subjects, while traditional students are taught in the classroom by similar professors and field experts.

ICDC graduates can also utilize their homeland security education to obtain careers in law enforcement, fire services, or emergency medical services (EMS). There is no end to the doors that this program will open for students.
Supplemental Training
ICDC works closely with federal, state, and local agencies to insure quality course development and instruction. Upon completion of the ICDC Homeland Security program, students are encouraged to complete Independent Study courses offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) available at. FEMA courses are great resources to expand on the knowledge, skills, and abilities gained in the ICDC program. FEMA training is offered free to homeland security professionals, first responders, and others involved in keeping our great country safe. Advanced training is available in many states, including California in Homeland Security subjects. Once a student graduates from the ICDC program and is hired into a homeland security career, they become eligible to attend the California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI) in San Luis Obispo, CA. The advanced training offered by CSTI will greatly enhance the ICDC graduates ability to serve his/her community, and will expand on building blocks learned at ICDC.
