How to Turn Your Garage into a Man Den in 5 Steps

Den, Garage Floor, Poker Night, Tv Stand

Want to turn your garage into a man den? Your not alone. Almost every guy I know uses his garage as a weekly poker night man den. The whole point of using your garage a as man den is that you can be real, not worry about spilling your drink, and generally be as messy as you want.

Here are 5 must have ways to turn your garage into a man den on a budget:

Don’t Forget the Heat

No matter how touch your guy is, every man den will need a heat source. This is the best way to use your man den all year long.

If your garage is not wired for electricity at all I recommend having professional electrician install an outlet for you.

It simply is never a good idea to have an extension cord running to a space heater!

Add a Table

OK, you have to start with a table and chairs. Having a permanent table and chair set in the garage is just the best way to go. It is too time consuming to bring the good chairs from inside the house out into the garage. Plus, everyone will be worried about scratching them or spilling on them.

If you don’t have a ton of room or simply need to park in the garage during the week, then use folding chairs and tables.

Mini Fridge or Cooler

A min fridge or large cooler is another rust have for a garage turned man den. Part of the charm of a real man den is to have an all encompassing space that keeps you from having to go into the house.

In addition to the man fridge or large cooler you should have a recycling bin and a garage can. This way the guys can toss their cans in the right bin!

Lighting

Most garages will lack lighting, so you will need to add some lighting in one way or another to be able to see to play poker or watch the game in the garage. Floor lamps are a great option here.

Try using floor lamps that have lighting knobs that allow you to control how bright they are.

Another great option is a ceiling fan with a light. If you have this option, then try it. Make sure you can still open the garage door though.

Adding a ceiling fan with a light is a great way to add a breeze to the garage, which can be needed on a hot summer night.

TV!

No Man den in the garage would be complete with out a TV. Really, as many TV’s as possible.

The garage is the perfect place to create a TV grave yard. Use an old TV stand you would not dare to put it in the house or even a large old dresser. Load it up with TVs in all shapes, sizes, and models so your guy can watch as many games, World Series of poker, or action movies as possible.
