How to Start Your Concierge Business

Concierge

It is noted world wide if there is one person that can get it done it is the concierge; whatever the job might be. That is the job of the concierge, to get it done, or find a way to get it done. A concierge takes care of responsibilities clients are too busy to deal with; shopping, baby sitting, dog walking, house sitting, and party planning. A concierge comes in when a client’s time needs to be focused in a more lucrative area. Being a concierge you are your own public relations person and are somewhat representative of your client, so handle yourself accordingly. When it comes to deciding what type of concierge area you would like to specialize in you must decide what your strengths and weaknesses are. You must ask yourself are you good with plants? Do you like shopping for specialty items? Whatever you decide, the best job possible must be done for your customer.

The basic things needed for a concierge is a computer, phone, office supplies, printer, business cards, a business license and transportation are a must have. You will need to be able to get around from place to place. This is a business that does not require a great deal of financing but a little money never hurts.

You must decide on a rate that you will charge for your services, generally $20 to $50 is charged per hour. You may consider putting together packages of services for your clients and charging a flat rate.

Network and get your business cards out there to let the world know you are open for business. Participate in community and corporate activities. Let clients know you are available.

Choosing a name is very important, something that will be representative of what you stand for.

Having bonding insurance is a good idea. Different levels of business carry different cost. Financing is the same as any other business. It depends on what you want to do.

You must set up a way to receive payment; Visa, Master Card, American Express, Pay Pal, and make sure you enlist a secure network for payment.

You must also have an Attorney draw up a contract so that all requirements are binding. Do not do the contracts yourself. A general contract will not do, you will need something that is specifically geared to your type of business and the special requirements that go along with it; no holes. Once you have delivered the service you want to make sure you get your money.

Starting a concierge business on a shoe string can be done but looking into the financing of whatever project you take on is just good business. It will be so much more reassuring to a client if they are sure you are emotionally, physically and financially capable of handling whatever comes up. Let’s face it, money is a necessity in any business, and back up financing is always good. This financing can come from family loans, savings, bank loans, or whatever. Choose the loan that gives you the best terms, and the least stress.
