How to Perform 3 Amazing Card Tricks With Any Deck of Playing Cards

Card Tricks

We all know that magicians are just plain cool. We see them on TV we see them live, we see them at birthday parties, and are, for the most part impressed by their tricks. Many times you may ask yourself “How on Earth did he do that?” well what if you could do something like that? Would that not be great for a conversation starter, or a way to meet somebody you were interested in? Magic is very simple and works on simple concepts and in this article I’ll outline and explain how to perform three very simple, yet very convincing and good magic tricks.

1) The Card in my pocket – The effect of this trick is to place one random card into your pocket and then have a spectator guess what the card is. After a series of questions the person will call out the name of your card. You reach into your pocket and the card is there.

All you need for this trick is a deck of cards and some quick talking. All you do is give the deck to the spectator and ask them to select a random card without looking. When they do so sneak a peak at it as you slip the card into your pocket, let’s say the card was the 3 of hearts. Now the card is in your pocket and nobody knows what it is except for you. Tell the person that they are going to guess the card in your pocket, and you can make up some random explanation as to why they can guess this card tell them they have untapped psychic abilities or something like that . Anyways ask them this first question

“Think of a color, Red or Black. Got it? Ok good, was it red or black?” they will answer with either choice. Now remember that the card in your pocket is a 3 of hearts so it’s red. If they answer “Red” then you Reply “Ok so you choose red, we’ll go with that” If they reply “Black” then you say “Ok so we want to get rid of black then” and move on to the next step of the trick. In effect you are manipulating what the spectator is answering. So on with the next question.

You ask his question “So there are two red suites right? Hearts and Diamonds, please pick one now, got it? Was it hearts or diamonds?” They will answer and you just repeat the steps from the last question. They say “Hearts” you say “Great we’ll go with hearts” they choose diamonds you say “Alright we’ll get rid of the diamonds leaving the hearts”

Next ask them to select a set of numbers Ace – 7 or 8 – the face cards. Then they answer, whatever set they choose respond accordingly. Ace – 7 “Ok cool so we can keep those” 8 – face cards “So we dump those and keep the others. From this point just narrow the field of cards down using these methods until they select the card in your pocket. Only do this trick once though because otherwise they might catch on, but the first time you pull this on someone they will be shocked and amazed.

2) Is this your card? – The effect of this age old trick is to have a spectator select a random card from the deck and then you shuffle and pick their card.

All you need is a deck of cards and a good memory, well at least a halfway decent memory. Shuffle the deck and have the spectator to select a random card. They will do this and then have them place the card on the top of the deck. Now you cut the deck in half, placing the bottom half on top. When you do this memorize the bottom card. The reason is because when you cut you place the bottom card of the deck onto the card the spectator chose. So lets say the bottom card was a 10 of spades, you cut the deck, and then use an overhand shuffling method, this way you don’t mix up the cards too bad, yet it appears that you are shuffling the deck in a good fair manner.

Next set the deck face up and fan out the cards. Look for the card you memorized, the 10 of spades and the next card in the deck will be the one the spectator selected. You can actually perform this trick a few times before the spectator will ask to shuffle the deck themselves, so it’s a great trick.

3) Family Sticks Together – The effect of this is you take all the face cards in a deck plus the aces and set them out according to suit. Then you mix them together and deal out the cards, and all the cards stick together, aces with aces, queens with queens and so on.

Again all you need is a deck of cards, and nothing more. Remove all cards but the face cards and the aces. The trick actually works itself so you can’t screw up unless you really really try. Set the cards out in rows according to suits. Ace first, then King, Queen and last the Jack. Now allow the spectators to see that all the cards are all in rows and explain what you are going to do. Take each set of cards and place them facedown, one set ontop of the other. Now cut the deck as many times as the spectators want you to, but be sure to make full cuts. What that means is make sure that you don’t cut the deck leaving one card on the top or bottom, because this will ruin the trick.

Once you are done cutting the cards deal them out one at a time face up from left to right. When you get done dealing all the Aces, Kings, Queens, and Jacks will be together. Amazing your friends and family each time you perform this trick.

So there you go, three simple and convincing tricks that are guaranteed to amaze. Hope you enjoyed these and I hope they work for you.
