How to Make Perfect Bite-Sized Nachos Using Math as Your Guide

Nachos

Who can resist nachos? How these delightful delicacies came about is anybody’s guess, but they are not only the perfect party food – they are also the perfect comfort food. This is one recipe I will be trying very very soon myself.

Everybody has their own recipe for nachos. It’s a commonly known fact that the nachos you find in restaurants are quite often much better than anything one could conjure up at home. However, that is all about to change now that a mathematical formula has been created all in the honor of making the world’s tastiest nachos.

For the perfect nachos you will first need a muffin tin. Not the kind that makes the super large oversized muffins that could each feed about 10 people. No, for this you will need a mini-muffin pan which are readily available in every good store.

Before running off the store to buy your favorite brand of tortilla chips, please wait just a moment. Instead of tortilla chips, pick up some corn tortillas instead. Why, you ask? Well, to get the optimum amount of cheese on your nachos, you should use corn tortillas if you wish to get the perfect and precise amount of flavor out of these little treats.

Jamie Condliffe, who holds a Phd in engineering, has figured out how to create a tortilla chip that fits into the mini-muffin tin perfectly. To do that, you need only find out the dimensions of the muffin tins themselves which include the internal diameter, the top diameter and the height of each side and then use the CAD system to create the perfect shape that will allow you to fold the tortilla into the muffin tin.

A 5 pointed star or starfish shaped cookie cutter is what you will need to use to cut the perfect shape into your corn tortillas. Carefully use the cookie cutter to create shapes in your tortillas and then steam them. You can do this easily by wrapping them in a paper towel and microwaving for 30 seconds maximum.

Once you have steamed your star or starfish-shaped tortilla chips, you need to dowse them with the tiniest amount of vegetable oil (I prefer olive oil, the healthiest choice). After they are oiled, sprinkle them with a bit of sea salt. After you have steamed, greased and salted your chips, place them inside of the tin and bake for 8 minutes at 400 degrees.

As soon as the chips become quite crispy, place grated cheddar or mozzarella cheese in the middle of the chips. Put them back in the oven just until the cheese melts which should take a couple of minutes at most. Once that is done, the time has come to add your own favorite toppings whether these be sour cream, black olives, jalapenos or guacamole – or all of the above.
