Homemade Silly Putty is a mixture of baking soda and other elements that makes a toy children and adults enjoy. If you do not want to spend the money to buy the original product, you can make Silly Putty at home. It is a great way for children to experiment with science. Build your child’s confidence by completing a successful Silly Putty project.

Step 1

Pour ¼ cup of glue, ¼ cup of baking soda, two drops of food coloring, ¼ cup of water and ¼ tbsp. of cornstarch into a plastic cup.

Step 2

Stir the mixture in a circular motion for 10 minutes until the mixture starts to thicken.

Step 3

Massage the mixture in your hands for 5 minutes. The Silly Putty is now ready to use.

Step 4

Store the Silly Putty in a plastic sandwich bag for future use. Remove all air from the sandwich bag and tie the top of the bag. The Silly Putty can be used for 3 months if properly stored. The texture of the homemade Silly Putty is similar to store-bought Silly Putty. The lifespan of homemade Silly Putty is shorter than store-bought Silly Putty.
