How to Make and Use Disappearing, Magic or Invisible Ink

Invisible Ink

What is the point of invisible ink you might ask? Well first off this is not ink that just goes away after it is used or the kind of practical joke ink that you squirt on someone and then it slowly fades away. The ink I am about to teach you to make is the kind that will reappear under the right conditions but if you do not know it is invisible ink or know what the conditions are then you will not be able to make it reappear. This still might seem to be a bit useless but in fact this is something that is easy and useful.

Before telling wasting any of your time telling you how to do something you think is useless I will first let you know some of the uses for this little trick. One of the first things that magic ink is good for besides magic, and disappearing is to writer notes to friends in school. Sure you probably get in trouble if you pass notes and the teacher might read the note out loud even but if they cant read the note they cant read it out loud. Also if a teacher just finds you passing blank paper they will only think that you were passing them some blank paper to use and you can even tell your teacher that. You can also use it to write secret messages and for more protection you can use it with a code or some kind of cipher so even if someone thinks it might be invisible ink and try to read the message they will not be able to discover what you wrote, that crush you have on Janet will be only between you and the paper or a friend who gets the paper and knows the chipper.

Ok that might sound great for kids but that is all this magic ink is its kids stuff after all I am a serious business type with a real desk job how will this help me you ask. Well it still has many useful applications in many fields. First you can use it as kids to pass notes. You can even use it to pass notes that you might not want a boss or coworker to find. Another use is to keep business secrets perhaps you are making negotiations and your boss needs to tell you the limit you are to go they can give you the paper without anyone noticing and only you will know to read it. A similar approach goes for trade secrets like an idea for an invention you can send a blank memo and it will be ignored by corporate spies who would otherwise intercept it.

Many kinds of devices can be made to use this ink but they all need to be pens unless you want to use something else like a cutie tip, or a paintbrush.

So now that you have some idea of the many uses how do you go about making invisible ink? Well there are many ways. The first two ways are the easiest of all. All you need to use is milk or lemon juice and to uncover the writing some source of heat like a light bulb. The second option is also easy to do, you mix an equal part water with an equal part baking soda for the same effect. A final form of magic ink can be made with just as little effort but uncovering the secret is harder but less likely to be discovered. Using liquid detergent as ink will work but only show up when viewed under a black light.

Now that you know the many ways to make disappearing ink have fun but remember this last caveat that Mark Twain used to say, “the only way to keep a secret is to have one person know it.”
