How to Get Rid of Blackheads the Natural Way

Blackheads, Clay Mask, Face Scrub, Fenugreek

Whether you are a teenager or an adult, blackheads can be a fact of life. I’ve had them since I hit puberty and I’m still dealing with them even though I’m nearly forty! Blackheads are pores that have become blocked with dead cells and hardened excess oil. They are caused by overactive sebaceous glands. Working on getting rid of them can be the bane of your existence. While there are many chemical treatments available to the discerning consumer looking for a quick fix, I’ve chosen to treat mine in a more natural fashion.

Here are some natural remedies for preventing and treating blackheads.

Prevention

Obviously if you can prevent blackheads in the first place, this is the best course of action. Also, if you are able to get rid of your blackheads, this treatment will work to help you keep from getting anymore.

To prevent getting blackheads mix one teaspoonful of fresh limejuice with one teaspoonful of peanut oil. Then apply this mixture to your face. You can purchase both peanut oil and lime juice from any grocery store.

Another natural preventative for blackheads is to make a paste of fresh fenugreek leaves. You apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before washing it off with warm water and a clean cloth. Fenugreek or methi leaves are an Indian spice. It’s possible you will have to go to an international food store to find fresh fenugreek leaves.

Cleansers

Be scrupulous about keeping your face clean. Wash your face at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. A good way to cleanse your face that is gentle, natural and will draw the impurities out of your skin is honey mixed with a clay mask.

Another cleanser you can make from home is one where you mix ¼ of a cup of hot water, 1 teaspoon of Epsom salts, and 4 drops of iodine. Dip a cotton ball in the mixture and apply it to your blackheads. When the mixture has dried on your skin gently wipe it off with a clean cloth.

To remove blackheads you can make a face wash by mixing fresh lime juice with a glass of boiled milk. Applying this face wash will actually remove blackheads.

Keep in mind that steaming your face before washing will help to loosen blackheads so you can remove them more easily. You can also use a face scrub of green tea to loosen blackheads.

Exfoliates

Exfoliate your skin regularly. Harsh exfoliation is not the way to go. Instead make your exfoliation treatment by mixing almond meal, honey, yogurt, and a few drops of lavender and tea tree essential oil. Then gently massage this mixture into your skin and rinse. This will help to soften and dislodge the stuff that is blocking your pores and causing the blackheads.

Another exfoliate you can try is by creating a scrub of salt, lemon, honey, and yogurt. Scrub your face with the mixture for 5-10 minutes and then later wash your face to rinse it off. Pat your face dry and you’re done. This is a very effective blackhead remedy that you can create at home.

These are just a few of the natural home remedies that you can make at home with very ordinary ingredients to prevent, and treat blackheads. Choose whichever one is easiest to prepare and use and good luck on getting rid of those blackheads!
