How to Enroll on University of Missouri’s MyZou

University of Missouri

When the University of Missouri switched from STARMU to myZou, it left many of its students behind horribly confused. Unfortunately this new beast is not something that can be ignored. MU students now have to depend on myZou for completing almost all formalities at the university. While I will not claim to have mastered the system, I have at least figured out how to enroll for classes. Here is how.

First go to the website myzou.missouri.edu. Do not add www. in front of the address. I will not work. Your PawPrint and password should be the same as the ones you were originally assigned with your school e-mail account or your school e-bills account. Enter those in the corresponding fields and click log in. On the left hand side of the new page, just below the tiger’s head there is a gray box with a search field and several options below. Click on ‘Self Service.’ This will most likely be the area of myZou that you will use the most. The new page has a similar box at the left. You need to click on ‘Enrollment’ either in the menu in that box or from the larger box to the right. Do not click on ‘Class Search/Browse Catalog.’ This application will only let you view classes that are offered. It will not let you register for them. In order to find and register for classes, click on ‘Wish List.’ This should be one of the options in the large gray box on the new page.

When you are on the wish list page, confirm that the proper term is selected and that your enrollment status (undergraduate, graduate, etc.) is correct. If you know the class number enter it in the indicated box but keep in mind that this refers to the catalog number and not the actual course number. If you do not know this information, click search just to the right. You will be prompted to choose a ‘Course Subject,’ which refers to the department, ‘Course Number,’ which identifies what level of course you are interested in viewing and ‘Course Career,’ which I generally ignore because the information in the first two boxes covers it. When selecting the course number you are able to select the exact number of a range, which makes it easier to view several options at once.

Now you should be on a page that is dedicated to one specific department’s course offerings for your desired term and level. Browse through these. If you wish to learn more information about a particular course click on the ‘Section.’ It will generally be the section number + lecture + the class number. This gives you all sorts of details regarding the class. If the class sounds interesting click on ‘Select Class.’ If the class has multiple sections you will then be asked to select which of these you desire to add to your schedule by clicking on the empty circle to the left of it. When you have done this, you must click next at the bottom right and this will add the class to your wish list. If the course requires special consent for enrollment, you will be taken to a separate page to enter this information that should be obtained from the department. You must repeat this process to add additional classes.

Now you should be on a page containing your ‘Wish list’ of classes. This helps you to look at all your desired classes at one time and figure out the best combination for your schedule. You are not yet enrolled in the classes. To finish enrolling you must click on the hollow box to the left of the classes you wish to add to your official schedule. You may select multiple classes at once. Next click ‘Add Selected’ which is just underneath the gray box containing all of the classes on your wish list. You will be taken to a new page that asks if you are certain you would like to add this class. Click ‘Finish Enrolling’ to continue. After completing these steps you should be officially enrolled in all your classes for the given semester.
