How to Cover Dark Circles and Fine Lines Under the Eyes

Dark Circles, Dark Circles Under Eyes, Fine Lines, Makeup Removal

As women age, fine lines begin to appear on the face. The skin under the eyes becomes thinner, and what once worked to cover up dark circles only accentuates fine lines. Lighter weight makeup works for some, but for others it creates more problems than solutions

When I was younger I used cover up sticks to hide what I thought were dark circles under my eyes. In hindsight they really did not look all that dark, but I wanted flawless skin. I topped the cover up stick with a dusting of facial powder, and it looked great.

These days cover up products highlight the fine lines under my eyes, and the powder ages my skin while making it look and feel dryer than ever. I can no longer use the method that once worked to cover dark circles and slight imperfections under my eyes. All it does is draw attention to fine lines instead of covering them up.

A Great Way to Cover Dark Circles and Fine Lines

My skin is no longer as smooth as it once was, especially beneath my eyes. As we age it looses natural elasticity, and fine lines start to appear. The lines are a precursor to wrinkles, but they can be softened and nearly eliminated with a cheap and simple trick. I came up with a good way to cover the dark circles and fine lines under my eyes, and it works exceptionally well.

Eye Makeup Removal Techniques

I begin by removing my eye makeup as I always have. I use petroleum jelly to take off the mascara and eyeliner. It is waterproof, but it wipes right off with oil based remover. I have also used baby oil and lotion.

Next, I wash my face with clear water. I do not use soap or facial cleanser of any type. The only other makeup I wear is blush, and it comes right off with water. I prefer clear cool water to any other substance when washing my face, and I have never had a problem with blackheads or acne. I also pat my face completely dry before applying lotion and makeup. Making sure that the skin is dry will help to minimize dryness and the fine lines that come with it.

I have been told many times that I look at least ten years younger than I really am, and I attribute it to my skincare routine as well as the avoidance of sunlight. The fine lines that I have are minimal, and the dark circles are really no darker than ever were.

Apply Anti Aging Moisturizer and Top it with Mineral Powder

Next, I apply my favorite anti aging moisturizer. I have been using Oil of Olay for more than a decade, and it works beautifully to keep my skin smooth and supple. I carefully apply it around my eyes as well as my cheeks, forehead and jaw line. The cool lotion helps to reduce dark circles. It also reduces under eye puffiness, and it works as an adhesive for my favorite facial powder.

I use Physician’s Formula pressed powder to cover dark circles under my eyes. The lotion and powder work together to cover up fine lines and circles that I consider dark. My new technique works just as well as the cover up stick and powder that I used many years ago, and I do not have to waste money on unnecessary foundation meant for those with fine lines, wrinkles and aging skin.
