How Oatmeal Can Help Acne

Many Americans suffer from acne and the many embarrassing and painful effects of having it. Many youths and adults tend to turn to western medicine for the answer. If you are like my cousin, and would rather use an herbal remedy, then I may have a great solution for you. Before reading this article it is important to remember that not all treatments have the same results on people. My cousin tried nearly five different types of western medicine before trying an all-natural remedy that his doctor informed him of, oatmeal. It is my intent from this article to provide you with the proper way to use oatmeal for fixing an acne problem of any degree.

According to my cousin’s doctor, who is the same as my own, Dr. James Deutsch, acne occurs for various reasons. Some of the reasons are genetic and some are diet. Usually the ones occurred from diet can be cured by simply eating healthier foods and drinks. I recommend trying this first, if that fails then it is time to try an actual herbal treatment for this problem. The doctor informed my cousin that nearly 20 million people in the United States alone suffer from acne. He also informed my cousin that there are several types of acne, named for various positions they take on the skin: Nodules, Papules, Pustules, Blackheads, and Whiteheads. The oatmeal treatment is good for all of these types of acne forms and it can actually help in erasing some of the scaring left from more severe cases. With all of this in mind, it is important to understand how to use the oatmeal properly in order to actually let it work effectively on the skin.

The doctor recommended using the instant oatmeal. I am not sure if he feels if this makes a difference but he seemed to be fairly confident with the instant. Any brand name will work. You may want to buy several packets because you will be doing this several times and you cannot reuse a previous batch. Once you have your oatmeal, cook it as the instructions suggest but add about a half an oz. of more water, which will help during the process. Make sure that you microwave the oatmeal otherwise; this method will not work properly. Once it is micro waved, allow it to simmer for a few minutes until it is not burning to the touch. With your semi-warm oatmeal place your fingers into the oatmeal and take a little bit. Use the oatmeal on your face by smearing it in all areas, not just the areas affected by acne. Scrub it in for several moments and then allow it to sit for thirty minutes. During this time, you can clean up your mess or watch a show, simply relax and enjoy the process. After thirty minutes, wash off the oatmeal with warm water. Make sure that you do this every day for a week and then every other day for a month. After that, you can simply do this method once a week.

My cousin did this for two months and he saw a substantial difference. He still has the occasional pimple but his acne is completely cleared up. He still uses it once a week to keep the acne at bay. He may have to do this for the rest of his life but oatmeal on the face once a week is a small price to pay to get rid of the painful embarrassment that anyone who suffers from acne, or has suffered from acne, clearly knows about.
