How Always Feminine Pads Could Be Better

Heavy Periods, Undergarments

For some time, I have had periods (no pun intended) of having such a heavy flow that medical attention has been required. With reasonable diet and exercise, I have been able to keep this under control and try to remain active when “Aunt Flo” visits but sometimes this is easier said than done.

Now, I know about “double protection” and this is an area where a woman gets what she pays for. I have nothing against store or generic brands but for cases such as this, I’d rather pay a company’s overhead expenses.

Always has been my pad of choice for about twenty years but unless you catch them on sale, these are about $0.75 to $1.25 higher than most major brands. Their patented “dry core” and other engineering technology eliminate that soggy feeling that women experience on heavy days. They are also slimmer than most pads so they feel more like wearing a pantyliner instead of a diaper.

About two years ago, Always introduced the Infinity pads with the usual samples and dollar off coupons. I cannot stress enough that if you tend to have heavy periods, these do make a difference. I never though that technology could make any more improvements. At $1.50 – $2.00 more than the average brand, with everyone nowadays looking to stretch their money as much as possible-these are a wise investment for the woman on the go.

Now my suggestion does not just lie with Infinity pads, yet at typical retail prices, they should consider these suggestions. Many feminine pad brands (including generic and store brands) brag about having “wings”. For those who are not aware of the purpose these serve, here goes. These are thin, lengthwise extensions of the pads that are supposed to prevent side leakage. I know the intention was to accommodate the active woman but the adhesive can be painful – for the “natural” woman, that is. One wrong twist or turn and that glue attach itself to you instead of your undergarments.

I realize that prior to the early 1970s, women had to wear belts and safety pins to secure feminine pads and there was nothing more excruciating than being poked by a loose pin or having to adjust a belt that felt more like a diaper. Trust me, I do feel for the generations of women prior to mine that had to endure such torture.

Once, I tried a pad (the name escapes me for the moment) where Velcro was used to join the wings together instead of adhesive which barely covers both sides of undergarments. This would create an additional full layer of protection as well as protect the goods from unnecessary pulling and pinching after minor activity.

Always Infinity could also make the wings longer, not just for the active woman but also for the woman who is not a size 6. And if they were to remain noticeably higher than most brands, I would suggest including a moist cloth with each individual pad.
