Honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Cades Cove, Eloping, Gatlinburg, Gatlinburg Tennessee

A honeymoon is a wonderful time for a newly married couple to spend time together and just enjoy each other’s company before the rest of their lives begin together. A honeymoon destination is often one of the first things a couple decides on when planning a wedding. If you are not a beach person, or do not want to travel out of the United State, you should consider taking your honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

My husband and I actually had our wedding and honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They have many different chapels available for weddings and will help you plan your entire wedding. We were originally planning on eloping and just having a small ceremony, but ended up with about 60 people driving ten hours from where we lived to attend our wedding.

After all of the guests left we stayed for a week on our honeymoon in Gatlinburg. We rented a two bedroom chalet that was high in the mountains and had plenty of privacy. There are many different companies that offer endless cabins and chalets for rent. Here are just a few of them and how you can contact them:

1. Amazing Views of the Smokies P.O. Box 101, Gatlinburg, TN 37738, (865) 436-3613 or
(800) 830-1197 www.amazingviewsofthesmokies.com

2. Hickory Mist Luxury Cain Rentals, (877)Go2Mist, www.hickorymist.com

3. Mountain Rentals of Gatlinburg, (866)482-1044, www.mountainchalets.com

After you have where you plan to stay booked, you should start planning what you want to do during your honeymoon. My husband and I planned a few things, but also hung out a lot at our cabin reading books, playing video games, and just hanging out together. It was fun to not have to go anywhere and just spend time together.
Always having something planned can often stress you out and not let you enjoy each other as much.

One thing that we did a few times was visit Cades Cove. Cades Cove is in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. There are plenty of wild animals to see and trails you can hike and see waterfalls. We would just drive through it hoping to see a wild bear. When we finally did see a bear we stopped and actually took pictures with it in the background. You can check out more that Cades Cove has to offer at www.cadescove.net.

Another place you can visit is Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort & Amusement Park. Here you can ice skate indoors, go down an alpine slide, play mini golf, and many other things. Some of the amusements are seasonal so you should check out www.obergatlinburg.com to find out what is open when you plan to visit.

You can take a short ride to Pigeon Forge and visit Dollywood Theme Park to ride rides and see some shows, or just enjoy the shows that are available. For more information you can go to www.dollywood.com.

You can even just walk around Gatlinburg and enjoy the wonderful stream that meanders along the streets and take in the wonderful scents of the fresh fudge and candy that floats through the air.

These are just a few things that you can do on a honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Remember to plan some things for your honeymoon but to also leave lots of free time to just hang out and enjoy each other.
