Homemade Vanilla Syrup for Cola

Soda Fountain, Syrup, Vanilla

Have you ever wanted vanilla cola but could no longer find it in stores? I used to love diet vanilla Pepsi, but I can no longer find this Pepsi flavor anywhere in my area. Vanilla flavoring and Pepsi are available at the soda fountain in some area gas stations, but I did not want to have to visit the local gas station for my favorite diet vanilla cola, and I did not want to pay soda fountain prices every time I wanted some. I decided to began experimenting with homemade syrup, and I could not find any recipes online – at least none that did not contain hard liquor. I developed a recipe for a homemade version of my favorite cola, and it is excellent. You might even decide you like the homemade syrup added to your favorite cola better than name brand or soda fountain varieties.

Try This Easy Homemade Version

If you love vanilla cola, try my homemade version made with extract and white corn syrup. The homemade syrup is much cheaper than store-bought varieties, and the homemade kind tastes great. Simply add one-fourth of a teaspoon of vanilla extract to one-half cup of white corn syrup. Add more or less extract according to your preference. Stir the homemade syrup well, and store it in a container with a tight-fitting lid. Shake it before each use if it begins to separate.

After coming up with homemade vanilla syrup to make my favorite soft drink, I no longer care if my favorite brand of diet vanilla cola is ever offered again. Hopefully others who once enjoyed it begin drinking this homemade version as well. Even off-brand bargain-priced cola can be turned into the tasty flavored variety, and for far less than the price of the name brand options I can no longer find.

Vanilla Syrup Sold in Stores

Before coming up with homemade vanilla syrup to add to cola, I decided to look for ways to make a similar version of my favorite flavor of cola. If my preferred brand of soft drink was no longer going to offer my favorite cola flavor, I would have to take matters into my own hands and come up with a comparable homemade mixture. The local gas stations had vanilla syrup next to the ice dispenser in the fountain drink machine, and I knew it had to be available for sale somewhere. I also noticed various flavors of syrup on a rotating stand in the middle of the coffee island, and I wondered if I would be able to find vanilla syrup in stores.

Visit the coffee aisle of your local Walmart if you do not want to mix up a batch of homemade flavoring. You will find DaVinci Gourmet Syrup in a 12.7 fluid ounce bottle. It is more expensive than my homemade vanilla syrup for flavoring cola, but it is also very good. For homemade vanilla flavored cola add 1.5 ounces to a 12-ounce glass of any brand, and add more or less vanilla syrup according to your preference. It can also be added to coffee, hot chocolate, and other hot and cold drinks, and it can be used to make desserts.
