Homemade Remedies, Homemade Remedy, Whole Milk

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, (NCHS), more than 60 million American adults and 9 million kids are overweight. Because of that, the sales of weight loss remedies has skyrocketed as adults and kids alike try to drop unwanted pounds. Even so, there are still many adults and young people in this country who are actually underweight. This minority is trying to add pounds to their scrawny bodies. If this describes you, try using these homemade remedies that will help you gain weight.

Being underweight may not sound like a problem to someone who’s dieting to shed some pounds. But, not having enough fat on your body isn’t always an ideal situation. Underweightness can cause fatigue, a deficient immunity system and a lack of physical strength.

An effective homemade remedy that will help you gain weight is to remember you should never skip a meal. Eat at least the three basic meals every day, plus snacks in between. You should also try to increase the size of your meals. Yet, don’t stuff yourself until you feel uncomfortably full, like you just consumed a Thanksgiving feast. Since a pound is equal to 3,500 calories, in theory, if you add another 500 calories to your daily intake, you should gain one pound a week. That may not sound like a lot of weight, but times that by the 52 weeks that are in a year, and you could add 52 pounds a year to your body.

Besides eating more, you should avoid diet drinks and foods. Replace diet soda with higher calorie fruit juices or milk, for example. Eat healthy snacks such as plenty of nuts, dried fruit, granola bars, whole grain muffins, cereal bars, cheese and crackers, pudding and peanut butter crackers instead of unhealthy potato chips and candy bars.

Another beneficial homemade remedy that will help you gain weight is to drink at least three tall glasses of whole milk daily. Whole milk is full of fat and calories that can help you add the pounds you need. Plus, it’s an excellent source of calcium and vitamins your body needs.

Or, if you’d prefer, make yourself calorie-rich milkshakes to drink instead. Here’s a basic recipe to follow: pour a glass of whole milk into a blender. Put in a large scoop of ice cream- avoid using the no-fat, low-fat or sugar-free varieties- peel and slice up a large banana and add that, then place two heaping spoons of peanut butter into the blender. Finally, sprinkle in a packet of Carnation® Instant Breakfast and a half cup of dried milk. Blend these ingredients a few minutes until they are well-mixed and frothy, then pour the milkshake into a glass and enjoy it.

And finally, make sure to get at least eight hours of restful sleep every night. If you’re very active, take rest breaks during the day to help conserve your energy and reduce your calorie usage.

If you’re trying to gain weight but you’re nervous and fidgety, drink Chamomile tea to help you calm down. Place a few drops of Lavender oil on a handkerchief and smell it throughout the day. The soothing fragrance will also help you relax and calm down.
