Homemade Pot-of-Gold Table Decoration for St. Patrick’s Day

Add a festive touch to your table with an adorable easy-to-make St. Patrick’s Day Pot-of-Gold table decoration. Add chips, cookies or gold wrapped candy to the Pot-of-Gold for everyone to enjoy.

Things You’ll Need:

Empty Oatmeal Container
Black fabric
Scissors
Mod Podge
Sponge brush
Small butter container
White glue
Gold glitter

Instructions:

Step 1 – Cut the empty oatmeal container in half to create two separate cylinder shapes.

Step 2 – Cut a strip of black fabric two inches wider than the height of the container.

Step 3 – Brush a layer of Mod Podge over the containers surface.

Step 4 – Center and place the fabric on the Mod Podge making sure to overlap the seam by 1-inch. Place the container on a small butter dish to dry.

Step 5 – Once dry, cut the fabric that extends past the top and bottom of the container with slits every 1- to 1 ½-inch. Stop cutting at the edge of the container.

Step 6 – Apply a coat of Mod Podge on the upper 2-inches of the inside rim. Press the fabric into place. Apply a second coat of Mod Podge. Allow the Mod Podge to dry completely before continuing.

Step 7 – Turn the container over. Apply a coat of Mod Podge over the bottom of the container. Press the cut fabric into the Mod Podge. Apply a second coat of Mod Podge. Allow the Mod Podge to dry completely before continuing.

Step 8 – Cover the work surface with a sheet of newspaper.

Step 9 – Squeeze a line of white glue on the container that spells Pot-of-Gold. Shake glitter over the glue. Tap the edge of the container to remove excess glitter.

Add a gold rim or other decorations to the Pot-of-Gold with white glue and glitter. Use a black pipe cleaner as the handle.
