Holiday Gift Ideas for Teachers Under $10

Coffee Mug, Gift Ideas for Teachers

What makes a good gift for your child’s teacher? Depending on the school that your child goes to, they may have several teachers. Buying gifts for this many teachers can get quite expensive. When I was in school, I only gave gifts to my favorite teachers, but you may want to buy a gift for all of your child’s teachers. So how do you do it and still have money left over? Simple, you buy one of these gifts that are under $10 for each teacher.

Calendar: Teachers are constantly setting dates for assignments, tests, etc. They usually get those huge desk calendars from the school, but why not add a little color and fun to their classroom by buying them a wall calendar? Your children probably have some idea of what their teachers like, whether it’s dogs, cats, or flowers. Regardless of their interests, there is more than likely a calendar that will be perfect for them. You can find a wide range of calendars at Wal-Mart for well under $10.

Coffee Mug: Teachers need coffee to handle the job that they have. Being a teacher isn’t always glamorous, and while your children may be perfect angels, there are other children who are not. Coffee or even cocoa is a great way to relax. You could buy a coffee mug that has the teachers’ favorite interest on it, or you could buy a coffee mug that says #1 Teacher. Either way, I would include a couple packs of cocoa or coffee with this gift: You can find coffee mugs at dollar stores for only $0.50 – $1.

Candy: Whether you give the gift of homemade candy or store bought, this is a great gift that you child’s teacher will really enjoy. If you choose to give the gift of homemade candy, I suggest making more than one kind and packaging it in a nice holiday tin. Store bought candies will usually come already wrapped in holiday packaging. Homemade will cost a lot to make but let’s say you spend $20 on the candy and buy the holiday tins for $1 a piece and you purchase seven of them. So you’ve invested $27, but you have decided to give this gift to all seven of your child’s teachers. Wow, that’s only $3.85 for each teacher.

Crafts: If you are good at a craft, whether it’s cross-stitching, knitting, or woodwork, a homemade craft makes a wonderful gift for your child’s teacher. One of the best gifts I gave to one of my favorite teachers was a huge cross-stitch my Granny had made. The teacher loved it. If you make a lot of crafts, you will more than likely have the materials that you need available, meaning that you won’t have to spend any extra money on this gift.

Gift Card: Teachers are well known for stopping and having fast food for breakfast. Why not let them have one of these meals for free? Getting your child’s teachers a gift card to one of the popular fast food restaurants makes a great gift. Slip the gift card into a nice greeting card and you have a wonderful gift.

#1 Teacher Gifts: As I mentioned above, you could buy a coffee mug that says #1 Teacher, but there are several more gifts out there like this. In fact, there is a wholesale place online where you could buy several of these gifts for very little money and hand them out to all the teachers. The Oriental Trading Company has over 2,000 matches that come up when you enter teacher. They have great prices and you don’t have to have a tax I.D. number to shop there. For example, they have tote bags for $7.95 each that say A+ Teacher on them and are filled with lots of great items like a candle, a stress reliever shaped like an apple, etc. You only have to buy one to get them at this price.
