Hillshire Farm Kielbasa and Smoked Sausages: Consumer Product Review

Hillshire Farm, Kielbasa, Smoked Sausage

Polish, or Polska Kielbasa is one of my favorite meat items. Through the years I have sampled many different brands of this mildly spicy food, but the one brand I have come to rely upon, over and over, is Hillshire Farm (R) Polska Kielbasa. For the uninitiated, kielbasa is a form of Polish sausage which is often cooked by means of smoking. Several types of fully cooked kielbasa are available in American supermarkets and Hillshire Farm (R) regularly produces some of the highest- quality and most delicious varieties of this product.

Polska Kielbasa, made from a variety of meats, is perhaps the most well known and favored variety of kielbasa in America. Hillshire Farm (R) fully cooked Polska Kielbasa is made from high- quality cuts of beef, pork and turkey, accented by natural spices that give this meat product a dynamic flavor that truly satisfies. In many parts of the world, including the United States, kielbasa is an integral part of many Easter meals. When I was a child, I eagerly looked forward to enjoying Easter dinner at my Aunt and Uncle’s house, primarily because of the plates of kielbasa that would inevitably be served prior to and after the main meal. When topped with a squiggle of mustard, kielbasa possesses a deep, rich meaty flavor and juicy, chewy texture that is unmatched by any other meat product. The brand of kielbasa that my Aunt and Uncle would always serve was Hillshire Farm (R) Kielbasa, which created quite an impression on me. Although my initial introduction to kielbasa was by way of thin slices served as appetizers with crackers at Easter dinner, I, like many other consumers, have come to truly enjoy eating Hillshire Farm (R) kielbasa as a breakfast meat, served alongside eggs, pancakes and waffles, as a sandwich meat, topped with onions, cheese and mustard and especially as a main course dinner entree. One of my favorite ways of eating Hillshire Farm (R) Kielbasa is to serve it with baked, boiled or mashed potatoes and sauerkraut, with plenty of mustard and buttered bread on the side. This classic preparation of kielbasa is beloved the world over. Another fantastic way of enjoying Hillshire Farm (R) Kielbasa is to combine slices of it with a can of fruit cocktail or cling peaches and some mustard, then bake it in the oven until hot, producing a “sweet and sour” type of dish. This dish pairs especially well with cooked rice or potatoes.

Kielbasa is normally sold in U- shaped lengths, or half- rings, which somewhat resemble large, thick hot dogs. Because it is generally fully cooked, kielbasa can be heated by boiling or simmering in water, heated in a conventional or microwave oven, or broiled. Besides their world- famous Polska Kielbasa, Hillshire Farm (R) also offers several other versions of this tasty treat. Some of the other varieties offered by Hillshire Farm (R) are ; Beef Polska Kielbasa, Turkey Polska Kielbasa and Lite Polska Kielbasa made with turkey, pork and beef. Additionally, Hillshire Farm (R) produces a variety of smoked sausages, including Beef Smoked Sausage, their regular Smoked Sausage, made with beef, pork and turkey, Hot Smoked Sausage made with spicy Jalapeno peppers, Lite Smoked Sausage, made with beef, pork and turkey and Turkey Smoked Sausage. All of their slow- cooked smoked sausage products are just as flavorful as their wonderful kielbasa items. In addition to being high- quality, delicious food products that the entire family will enjoy, Hillshire Farm (R) Kielbasas are also very competitively- priced and widely- available at food retailers everywhere. Nutritionally, Hillshire Farm (R) Polska Kielbasa contains 190 calories, with 150 calories from fat, per 2 oz (56g) serving. All things considered, the various types of Hillshire Farm (R) Kielbasa products are highly recommended by this food writer.
